Sixteen year old Rick has been virtually cast from home, in Iowa, to make his way to his uncle in Florida. Rick meets Sam, an assumed name, in a shelter who decides to help the young boy get to his uncle, instead of being on the streets and falling into things that Sam wants to protect him from.
