From The Previous Chapter:

The Covers and their invited guests, Ms. Judy and her son, Eric, all headed out for a late dinner at the Four Corners restaurant. There were no rides taken at the amusement park afterwards and no meeting in the Study.

The Covers had a difficult day, so ‘dad’ Ken told the boys to relax and reflect on what happened that day, and he didn’t spend much time with them that evening. And when the Covers did lay down to go to sleep, they all thought about how they would have handled the accident if they had been involved.

The Cove might have been quiet that night, but not all slept well.

Ken Thomas did his normal morning routine after waking that morning, before going out to have his breakfast. The man said good morning to Momma Maria, sat down to his first cup of coffee and then opened his morning newspaper.

Driver Slips Past Flagger
Causes Accident – 2 Injured
(See Local Section)

That’s the teaser headline above the masthead that greeted Ken Thomas, as he looked at the first page of Section A. He immediately turned to read what it said.

Mr. Ken knew the truth after watching the dash camera video last night. He just wanted to read what the news media had to say about the accident. When he read the article, they had taken the flaggers statement, as the gospel truth, and went with it, not caring that they never talked to the driver to get his take on what happened.

Ken Thomas took out his cell phone and called Lt. Matthias. When the detective answered, he asked the lieutenant if he had a chance to watch the dash cam video. The detective said that he had, so Mr. Ken asked him if he had issued a news release to counter the false reporting, he’s reading in the paper that morning.

Lt. Brandt Matthias heard the tone in Ken Thomas’ voice and knew he better have a good answer for the man. “Mr. Thomas … it was too late to issue a statement last night, when we were able to view that dash cam video chip. I’m sorry.”

“Well, what kept you from doing it first thing this morning … lieutenant?” now asked an irritated Ken Thomas. “You knew the truth … and now the papers … they name me, lieutenant, and everyone else believes that I didn’t properly train my foster son … and that he deliberately … that he deliberately drove past that flagger! I am not a happy camper this morning lieutenant! You had the opportunity to release a statement late last night and head this off before it got out of hand, and you sat on your butt, lieutenant!” blared Mr. Ken.

“They have also connected Bill with the home invasion. And now they have asked if his injuries may have had anything to do with his actions in not stopping for the flagger. I knew something like that would happen and the news media would make a bigger deal out of this than there is and you did NOTHING to stop it, lieutenant!”

Continuing, Mr. Ken added, “Now when can I expect you to make that correction, or am I going to have to go outside my Main Gate and make that correction for you, and possibly release that video, myself, so the whole world will know that the flagger … that he is a world class liar trying to save his ASS!”

Momma heard her boss raise his voice, which was something that she rarely, if ever, heard, and it startled her. Mr. Ken was obviously mad at the person he was talking to, so she listened a little closer.

Momma then heard her boss say over the phone, “OK, lieutenant, you’re telling me that you’ll make a statement at ten o’clock … and you’ll show that part of the video where the flagger … where he gets the OK to send Bill through and Bill drives off. Am I hearing you correctly?”

A few moments later, Momma heard Mr. Ken say, “I’ll be watching the TV at ten o’clock. And I hope that you’ll do what you say, because you know what I will do, if you don’t! Goodbye!”

Mr. Ken threw his cell phone on the table and Momma could tell he was upset. She went over to add some hot coffee to his cup and asked him if there was anything she could do. Mr. Ken then told her some more about the accident, and what the newspaper printed and how the Sheriff’s Department hadn’t yet released the truth. Momma was aghast they hadn’t done that.

Mr. Ken tried to read the newspaper, but he was distracted because the Sheriff’s Department had held onto some vital information that would have cleared Bill and kept the news media from making a spectacle out of a mole hill. He was also pissed at Deputy Rivera from last night, so right now he was not a fan of any of the Sheriffs that morning.

It was going on eight o’clock, so Mr. Ken told Momma that he was going to go over to the hospital to check on Phillip, and hopefully bring him home today. Momma told him that she hoped that he would.

But before the man left The Cove, Ken Thomas called Rosemary and told her where he would be, and for her to call him if anything important came up. He told her that he probably wouldn’t be in for the rest of the day, and to tell Ben.

At the hospital, Phillip was happy to see his ‘dad’. They hugged and the man asked him how his night was, and how he now felt. The boy told him that he didn’t like being in the hospital, and he hoped that he was there to take him home.

Breakfast Thursday morning for the boys wasn’t a cheerful one. They were still bummed out about the accident that put their ‘brother’ Phillip in the hospital. They wanted to go over to see him, but Mr. Wayne told them that their ‘dad’ was there and he might be bringing him home.

Mr. Chris was there, wondering what everyone was saying about the accident, and he hadn’t yet seen the video. The Estate Manager had read the morning newspaper and had heard what was being reported on the radio about the accident and so he asked Billy if he really did what they were reporting.

The boys all wanted to know what was being reported. Mr. Chris told them that the paper and radio were all maligning Mr. Ken about him not properly training his foster son to drive. The Estate Manager added by saying that Mr. Ken’s foster son deliberately slipped past the flagger and was responsible for the accident and that they were wondering if that was related to when he was thrashed by those three men during the home invasion. The boys, upon hearing what Mr. Chris had to say, jumped on the man telling him that they had it all wrong and that he needed to watch the video.

Mr. Chris quickly asked, “What video?”

The boys all tried to talk at once to tell the Estate Manager that Billy had a dash camera in the car, and he had audio of the flagger telling him he could go. Mr. Wayne had to tell the boys to let Bill tell the story. Once he did, Mr. Chris asked to see the video. Momma asked if she could watch it, too.

They didn’t go down to the Theater. Mr. Wayne thought that Mr. Ken’s desktop PC would be big enough for the two of them to be able watch the dash camera video, so that’s where everyone headed.

When the two Covers, who hadn’t seen the video, watched it, they were surprised that the flagger told Bill to go and then the front-end loader backed right into him. It was then that Momma remembered Mr. Ken saying that there was going to be a news release by the Sheriff’s Department at ten o’clock, and that they should try to watch it to see if they corrected the inaccurate information that’s out there.

The boys looked at the time and saw they had time to get cleaned up and then they could be down to watch the news release. So, the three of the boys headed upstairs to take their showers, while Billy just went up to change into his work clothes.

While the boys went upstairs to get their showers, Wayne told Chris to go ahead and plan for the trip. He told the Estate Manager that Mr. Ken found someone to stay with Chief and her little family, so the amusement park trip was on.

Chris asked if Phillip would be able to go. Wayne said the boy would probably want to go, and whether or not he would be able to ride any of the rides would be up to Doctor Powers. Wayne said that beside Dennis, he thought Dan was also going, and that Miriam would probably be going, as well, but Mr. Ken would have to call her to confirm that. Wayne also said that the trip would probably begin next Saturday.

Instead of waiting around the house to watch the news release, the teenager went up to the Pavilion to turn on the television, so that he could watch it there. He told Lonnie about what Momma told them and he wanted to watch it before they started working.

The Sheriff’s new release didn’t happen exactly at ten o’clock, as the news stations had to hype the special announcement by the Sheriff’s Department. And then they had to introduce their news anchor and then bring on the Sheriff’s spokesperson, Lt. Brandt Matthias.

The Covers, in anticipation for the news release, were watching the television in the Kitchen Nook, Billy and Lonnie were watching the large television up at the Pavilion, and Mr. Ken was watching the news release in Phillip’s hospital room, while he was waiting for the doctors to determine if his foster son was being released that morning, or if he was staying another night.

Finally, the news anchor introduced Lt. Matthias saying that the Sheriff’s Deputy had an important announcement about yesterday’s front-end loader accident with a passenger car that sent two boys to the hospital, with one eleven-year-old remaining overnight.

“Thank you. I am Sheriff’s Detective Lt. Brandt Matthias with some new information about yesterday’s incident between a four-door passenger vehicle and a front-end loader along the road leading to the Four Corners shopping area from the adjoining neighborhood, that injured two school aged children.

“It had been erroneously reported that the driver … that he ignored the flaggers instructions and was totally responsible for the accident. What the news reporters did not have and what they failed to do … was they never interviewed the driver of the vehicle, and they never heard what he had to say about the events leading up to the accident.

“The reporters … they also did not know of the dash camera that the driver had in his vehicle at the time of the accident, and that was not in the accident report. Last night the Sheriff’s Department … was given the actual dash camera’s MicroSD chip in order for us to ascertain its validity, and we determined that it was authentic.

“What I am now going to show you is an important part of our investigation that will clear up any doubt as to whether or not the driver ignored the flaggers instructions, as was reported by the television and radio’s news and this morning’s newspaper.”

Lt. Matthias began playing the video from the dash camera and the viewers saw what was essentially the view out the front windshield, which showed the road out front of the vehicle and the front-end loader in the distance. But what was the most important thing was the audio that they heard, along with the video.

The viewers heard the flagger talking on his two-way radio to see if he could wave the traffic through, as it had been more time than it usually takes to dump the load. The camera caught the return radio call telling the flagger that he could send the car through. The camera audio has the flagger telling Billy to drive on through. The viewers watch as the driver begins to drive slowly through the area where the front-end loader was situated.

The viewers see how slowly the driver is driving and as he is perpendicular to the front-end loader, they hear the front-end loader’s driver gun his equipment and they then hear the unmistakable sounds of the front-end loader crashing into the side of the Taurus and they see the windshield fly off of the car and crash onto the road in front of the vehicle.

“That, ladies and gentlemen … what you just watched and heard is what actually happened yesterday. That is NOT … what the news reporters on television, radio and in the papers reported to you.

“They went with one observer’s telling, as being the gospel truth, and they all erroneously blamed the driver, when it was the construction people who allowed the driver to proceed. We are confident that the news departments will make the necessary corrections in their reporting and take the necessary measures to ensure the driver isn’t further defamed.”

That ended Lt. Matthias’s special report on yesterday’s accident and the news stations had no idea that the lieutenant would end it the way he had. The news anchor was left open mouthed, and he just ad-libbed a sincere apology to the driver for their hasty rush to judgment, and added that he hoped that this will not cause him any further distress.

Billy heard what the news anchor had to say, so he pulled out his cell phone and made a phone call. When the call was answered, the Cover asked for Stewart Russell. The secretary took his name and told him the attorney would return his call, as soon as possible. Hearing that, Billy and Lonnie got to work.

Mr. Ken also heard the apology and he pulled out his cell phone and made a similar phone call, and when the call was answered he asked for Bill Jackson. The secretary told him that Mr. Jackson was in a meeting, and that he would return his call, as soon as possible. Ken Thomas thanked the secretary and then hung up.

Mr. Ken then got the chance to talk to the doctor about Phillip and whether or not he would be coming home today. The doctor told Mr. Ken that he felt that the boy could go home, but that he needed to relax, and that he shouldn’t do any strenuous activity for at least 72 hours. The doctor told Mr. Ken that it would take about ten days for the brain to fully heal after the mild concussion Phillip had received.

It was almost 10:40 when the doctor started the discharge process. Mr. Ken knew from experience and thought to himself that it would take an ‘act of congress’ to get Phillip out of the hospital, in a reasonable amount of time. Then he inwardly laughed at this joke.

Mr. Ken made two additional quick phone calls. He called Doctor Powers office to make an appointment for Phillip, so he could be seen about his concussion and dislocated shoulder. The foster dad then called Wayne to tell him that Phillip would be home some time in this century. Wayne got the joke and went and told Momma that Phillip would be home sometime after lunch.

Billy was using the power washer and he almost didn’t hear his cell phone ringing, but when he did notice it, he quickly walked away from both his and Lonnie’s noisy machines, so he could answer it and hear what was being said.

“Mr. Russell, Billy, sorry to bother you but … well … did you happen to hear what the Sheriff’s Department released about my accident yesterday?” asked the Cover.

Stewart told Billy that he was in a meeting and hadn’t heard it, so he asked Billy to give him a synopsis. The teenager told him about the dash camera video and that the Sheriff’s Department just released a portion of it on television and it shows that it exonerated him.

Billy also told the lawyer that the TV anchor offered an apology of sorts, saying something about them rushing to judgment and hoping that this will not cause him any further distress. Billy asked Mr. Russell if he can sue all of the news media for defamation of character, by the way they reported that he was fully responsible for the accident.

Stewart Russell told his client that he had to review the television footage and hear how all the news media had covered the accident and read the morning newspaper reporting before he could ascertain if there was actual defamation. The lawyer told Billy not to throw in the towel just yet, as it did sound like there was something there to him. Before he hung up the call, Mr. Russell told the teen that he’d get back to him in a day or two.

Attorney Bill Jackson had almost the same sort of call with Ken Thomas. The foster dad was upset at the way all of the local news media maligned him, had characterized his foster son and after what the news anchor had said on air that morning, he wanted to know if there was a way that he could go after all of them for defamation of character of Bill.

Bill Jackson told his friend and best client that he’d have to watch what was said by the television anchor and know how the other news media had reported the accident and placed blame on his foster son. The attorney told Mr. Ken that he’d get back with him in about two days. Ken told Bill that he would wait on his call.

Phillip’s bandmates asked about him as soon as they arrived at The Cove that Thursday. Unfortunately, none of the Covers had any news about their ‘brother’ other than he had a concussion and a dislocated shoulder. They did not know that their ‘dad’ had called Mr. Wayne to tell him that Phillip would be home later that afternoon.

The bandmates went over to the garage and started to play. They played yesterday without Phillip and now that their guitarist had a dislocated shoulder, they knew they wouldn’t have him for quite some time, so they had to focus on playing without him. They also knew that when he went to live with his mom they would have to adjust, so this was a good time to try to do that.

The rest of the Covers’ friends were also concerned about Phillip and how well he was doing. They, too, asked questions that their Cover friends didn’t have answers to. So, all anyone could do was wait until the Covers heard from their ‘dad’ and in the meantime, everyone did what they usually did, which was they skated, swam, got the barbeque ready, drove the PWCs, or sailed the sailboats.

It was around 2:30 when Mr. Ken and Phillip returned to The Cove. The foster dad stopped at a fast-food restaurant along the way home to get Phillip a good meal, as compared to what he ate at the hospital. It also gave the man a chance to talk to the boy and get his take on how he saw the accident.

Phillip told his ‘dad’ that he was just sitting in the seat, as Billy was driving slowly past the front-end loader, when he heard this loud roar and then the next thing that he remembered was that he was being lifted onto a stretcher by the firemen.

The young boy said that he thinks he felt his head being hit by something, but he didn’t know what it was until he saw the news station show the car before they cut the top off. Then he figured it had to have been the roof, as that was what was resting on him, before they cut it off.

‘Dad’ Ken asked Phillip if he remembered what the flagger told Billy. Phillip said that the flagger called someone on his radio, and the guy told him that he could let Billy drive on through. The young Cover then asked why his ‘dad’ asked that question. Mr. Ken said that the detectives will probably want to talk to him about the accident, and he was just wondering what he remembered about what the flagger had said.

When Mr. Ken and Phillip drove into The Cove, the Covers noticed and they quickly drove the golf carts down to the house to greet their returning ‘brother’. Mr. Wayne and Mr. Dennis both came out of the house to greet them and Momma Maria was standing at the Foyer Door waiting for her niño to come home.

Phillip had his right arm in a sling because his right shoulder was dislocated and he was told he had to have to wear it until Sunday. He was also told that it would take at least twelve weeks for his shoulder to fully heal, and that he had to avoid heavy lifting and sports activities involving shoulder movements for a minimum of 6 weeks.

Phillip asked if he could play his guitar. The doctor told him that he could try it, but the strap across his shoulder will place the weight of the guitar on the shoulder, and that it might really hurt him. The doctor further asked him to try not playing, especially for that first week.

Phillip then asked him if he just used his acoustic guitar, because it usually just sits on his lap. The doctor smiled and told the young Cover that he could try that, but his muscles and tendons were injured and will be sore. The doctor explained that just his strumming, the moving of his arm and hand up and down, might hurt as well.

That wasn’t what the youngster wanted to hear, but at least the doctor told him that he could try it. Phillip figured that he would do that, if not tonight, then maybe tomorrow. He did have his guitar lesson on Saturday, and he needed to be ready for Mr. Bindy.

Momma was so happy to have her niño back home. So, for dinner that evening, she was going to serve it up at the Pavilion. She had already talked to Billy about helping her and she had picked up the items she was sending the teenager for when the accident occurred.

After he talked to all of the adults in the house, Phillip asked if he could go up to the Pavilion and talk to his bandmates. He told his ‘dad’ that he knew they would want to know how he was doing. Billy was there and offered to drive him up there. ‘Dad’ Ken told the boy not to spend too much time up there.

When they saw Phillip was coming up to the Pavilion, all the boys wanted to talk to him. His bandmates, especially, as they wanted to know when he would be back playing with them.

Phillip told the boys about what he remembered, which wasn’t much, as he was knocked unconscious when the front-end loader crashed into the side of the car, and bent the roof down upon him. Many of the boys said that they had watched the lieutenant’s news conference that morning, when he released a portion of the dash cameras video, that showed the flagger let him go through.

That night at dinner, Momma served steak fajitas skewers with bell peppers, onions, pineapple and button mushrooms plus a salad with different dressings for the Covers to choose from. There was also fresh baked bread and butter for those who wanted it.

The conversation at the table that evening did center around yesterday’s accident. The boys laughed how the Taurus was made into a convertible and they asked their ‘dad’ if he was going to keep it that way? ‘Dad’ Ken told him that the Sheriff’s Deputies took the car and they now have it in evidence for their investigation.

Momma said that at least her niño’s weren’t hurt too badly. The boys then asked if their ‘dad’ was going to buy a replacement vehicle, so Billy would have something to drive. Mr. Ken smiled at the question, and said that when things settle down, some, that maybe he and Bill could go out and look at some vehicles to see what would be a good replacement.

The boys all helped Momma with the clean up before heading down to the house. Once there, the Cover’s returned all walked to the Study, where ‘dad’ Ken had a big announcement.

“Boys … the trip is on! I have someone who will stay with Chief, and her little family, so we will leave to visit my park beginning next Saturday,” announced ‘dad’ Ken.

The boys were all happy at the announcement, and then they all wanted to know who it was. But ‘dad’ Ken said that it wasn’t important, but what he told them that was important was for them to focus on that they were all going. Phillip asked if he was going to be able to go with his dislocated shoulder. The boy’s ‘dad’ told him that there was no reason why he couldn’t go.

Billy spoke up just then and told his little ‘brother’ that he might not be able to ride some of the rides, because his shoulder might still be sore. The teen added that Phil will just have to try them and see how his shoulder reacts.

‘Dad’ Ken smiled at the telling, knowing that Bill couldn’t ride many of the more intense rides last year, when they visited the parks, due to the beating he’d taken, as well as his cracked ribs, sore internal organs and muscles.

Continuing, Dad Ken then told Bill and Robert that he plans to take them to visit their moms on Tuesday. He told his son, Robert, that he would take him this time, and Mr. Wayne would take Bill, and they would leave around nine o’clock. He told the rest of the other boys that Mr. Dennis and Mr. Chris would be here to watch over things.

Dad Ken also asked Charles about his braces. Since the man had been so busy as of late, he told his son that hadn’t heard anything about them being adjusted, and how well his son was adjusting to them and how much longer he had to wear them.

Charles told his dad that he’s seen the dentist every month like clockwork, and that he will have his braces until at least some time that fall. He then showed his dad his current colors of light blue and light green.

To finish up the meeting, ‘Dad’ Ken also told the boys that the blessing and dedication of the Blessed Waters Academy High School’s new vocational building would take place next Thursday morning and that he and Mr. Chris would be there. He asked if any of the boys wanted to attend. None of them committed themselves, but Matthew and Charles said they wanted to think about it.

But before the boys went up to their rooms, they all went down to check on Chief and her young family of puppies. Since Phillip had his right arm in a sling, Matthew was asked to rinse the resident pet’s water bowl and bring it back down with fresh water and some ice in it.

Everyone noticed how much the puppies had grown in the last week. Matthew asked when would they begin to walk around some. Mr. Wayne told him that the pups wouldn’t open their eyes for another two weeks, or so, and it would be at least another week after that before they will try to walk.

The boys all went over and scratched behind Chief’s ears, as she lay there feeding her pups. She lay there with a big smile on her muzzle, as she got the ear scratches that she so loved from the people she also loved. The boys then went up to their rooms to await their ‘dad’ to come up and say goodnight.

Wayne told his boss that he was going to forgo saying goodnight to the boys, and he asked him to tell them that he’d see them tomorrow. That done, Wayne walked up the stairs to head out the Foyer Door and to his vehicle. Mr. Ken, on the other hand, called the elevator to the Great Room in order for him to ride up to the boy’s floor. It had been a long day for him and he told himself that he deserved the treat.

Once he arrived at the second floor, ‘Dad’ Ken started at Billy’s room, which is what he usually did. When he entered the room, the teen welcomed him and the two talked. One thing that Bill told his foster dad was about his phone call to Stewart Russell.

Mr. Ken inwardly smiled at the initiative the teen took at calling his lawyer to see if what all the news media – papers, radio and television – did could be construed as defamation of character, and how much he could make them pay for doing that.

The foster dad also knew that was what he also did by calling his own lawyer, Bill Jackson, but his call was three-fold. Mr. Ken wanted to know not only about defamation of character of Bill, but also their maligning him and then, of course, holding the construction company responsible for causing the accident and the pain and suffering the boys had to endure.

Bill thought his foster dad would be upset at him for being so forward and calling Mr. Russell without talking to him about it first. But Bill was surprised that Mr. Ken didn’t even chastise him for doing that. His foster dad told him that it would have been something that he would have done eventually, so all he did was start the process early. Mr. Ken did ask the teen to think through those kinds of decisions before acting, the next time, because other people might have other ideas and plans to make things happen.

Bill apologized and said he was just so pissed at how they portrayed him and he wasn’t thinking straight. The teen did say that this was a learning situation and that he would talk to him the next time. The two shared a hug before ‘dad’ Ken moved on to the next teenager.

In Robert’s room the teen wanted to know who was the person who would be staying with Chief. But the teen’s dad wasn’t telling, just yet. Dad Ken told his son that he would find out soon enough, and that it would be a big surprise to everyone. Mary Taylor’s name immediately came to the teen’s mind, as she was the one who came to stay with him when his dad had to go away that first time.

Charles asked his dad the same question, and he got the same answer. The teen’s dad asked his son if he was serious about joining him at the dedication of the vocational building. Charles told his dad that he thought that it would be nice to see what his dad bought for the Academy. He told him that it was a departure from what he normally buys, which was amusement parks and rides. The two had a good laugh and then they shared a hug before the man headed over to Matthew’s room.

Matthew loved the one-on-one time he got with his ‘dad’. Yes, he was the so-called clingy one of the Cover boys. But he was also the boy whose mother told him she was going to kill him, when they got back together, for his talking to the authorities about Lincoln. Matthew truly wanted Ken Thomas to adopt him, in the worst way. But he knew he had to wait for the man and his lawyers to formulate a plan to make that happen.

‘Dad’ Ken and Matthew talked about the accident and that Phillip was lucky that he came out of it with the minor injuries that he had. Matthew asked his ‘dad’ a hypothetical of what would have happened if Billy was going faster.

“Dad’ Ken told him that one of two things might have happened. One, he might have sped past the loader and they wouldn’t have been in the accident. Or, two, he might have hit the front-end loader and T-boned it at a faster speed and he and Phillip could have been more seriously hurt.

But ‘dad’ Ken told Matthew that neither of those happened and that he shouldn’t dwell on what might have, but to just press forward. The two shared a hug and the boy melted in the man’s arms. The pre-teen thanked his foster dad for everything he’s done for him and that he loved him as his ‘dad’. ‘Dad’ Ken told the boy that he loves him, too, and he is trying everything he can to try to adopt him. Matthew smiled and hugged the man even harder.

When ‘dad’ Ken finally arrived at Phillip’s room, the boy had his acoustic guitar on his lap and he was trying to play it. The boy wasn’t playing fast, but he was playing the notes correctly.

“How’s the shoulder, Phillip?” asked ‘dad’ Ken.

“It’s sore, ‘dad’. But I had to try to see what the doctor told me was true. It is,” answered the young Cover.

“Have you taken your pill, yet?” asked the boys ‘dad’.

“No, I guess I should. You picked them up at the pharmacy, but you never gave them to me. You did give me some for me to take earlier, but I don’t know where they are. Do you know where they are?” asked the boy.

‘Dad’ Ken and Phillip went down to the Study, and then out to the Nook, so the boy could get a glass of water to wash down the over the counter pill the doctor recommended the young Cover take.

It had been a long day for Phillip, so Mr. Ken walked him upstairs, but not to his bedroom. He stopped him at his bathroom and told him to go inside and drain his dragon. When the boy came out, the man walked him down to his room and told him to just take off his clothes and sleep in his underwear, as he would sleep better that way.

They shared a hug before ‘dad’ Ken told Phillip to sleep in as long as he needed, and not to worry about Momma and breakfast. The man then closed the door. Ken Thomas then headed down to his own retreat to get ready to fall into his own bed and get a good night’s sleep.

The Cove was quiet that night and one Cover slept like no other.
