From The Previous Chapter:
Kate got her boys into their pajamas and Matthew got Rusty into his bed after the boy used the bathroom. Phillip did the same for Jessy. The older boys then met in Billy’s room for a while to talk about their ‘dad’ and Charles being back and that the twins would be there tomorrow, and how they needed to let their ‘dad’ and Kate have some time together.
With ‘dad’ Ken back home, and the Covers all together again, The Cove was quiet and everyone slept well throughout the night.
Ken Thomas woke up refreshed that Sunday morning. He’d gotten a very good night’s rest, and after using the facilities, showering and getting dressed for his day, he went outside to get his newspaper, but it wasn’t there. Then, he saw Momma Maria’s car was there.
The man walked inside to the Kitchen Nook to find Momma standing there with a big smile on her face welcoming him home. She told him to sit and that she’d bring his coffee over to him, and that she would fix breakfast for him when all of his guests were down.
Mr. Ken thanked her for bringing in his newspaper, and then proceeded to take it out of its protective sleeve and separate it as he usually did. Momma Maria then brought his cup of coffee over to him and the owner of The Cove felt right at home with his morning newspaper and his fresh, hot cup of coffee.
Kate came into the Nook not too long after Mr. Ken started reading. Momma brought her a cup of hot coffee and milk and sugar for her to use if she wanted. The woman told her she would be fixing breakfast and asked her if she wanted anything special. Kate told her that anything that she fixed would be fine with her.
Soon, all the boys began arriving in the Kitchen Nook, including Collin. Phillip went to take care of Chief’s bowls and after Jessy gave his mom a morning hug and kiss, he went over to help his ‘big brother’.
Phillip showed Jessy how he was supposed to rinse out both bowls and then fix fresh kibble and water for Chief. Jessy asked Phillip why Chief was so fat now. The young Cover chuckled and then told the young boy that the resident dog was going to have a litter of puppies. Hearing that surprised Jessy and he quickly went over to his mom.
“Mom, mom … Chief … she’s going to have some puppies. Can we have one of them?” begged the young boy.
Kate looked over to Ken with the question in her eyes, and Ken told her that Chief was indeed going to have a litter of seven puppies, but that all seven have been spoken for. Kate then told her son that all of Chief’s puppies already had been spoken for and will go to new homes.
Jessy was, of course, heart-broken. He then went over to Mr. Ken and asked him if he could have one if someone didn’t want one after they were born. Mr. Ken told him that if someone gave their puppy back to him, he would then call his mom and then it would be up to her if he could have the puppy. Jessy then looked to his mom to see what she would say. She told him that they would have to wait and see.
Over breakfast, the boys talked about what they were doing, while their ‘dad’ was away having fun. He just laughed at their thought that he was just ‘having fun’ while he was working hard getting Edgewood ready for their Grand Re-Opening.
Phillip started by telling him that he and his band-mates feel they need a bass guitarist and maybe a keyboard player to round out their band. He added that they couldn’t think of anyone in their school just yet, but they hope they can think of one, or both, and maybe add them. Mr. Ken just smiled that the boy was thinking beyond the present.
Billy told Mr. Ken that he and Lonnie just finished the entire front estate wall, with the exception of the Gate House, itself. The teenager told the man that they wouldn’t work on the Gate House, and the rest of the estate walls and the driveway until after their 4th of July break. Billy did mention that his working friends have stopped by telling him that they miss coming over to The Cove, but they don’t miss the money they’re making. Everyone at the table laughed.
Robert told his dad that the carnival operator hadn’t asked them to test ride the rides just yet. The teen explained that when they had left for dinner last night, the carnival didn’t have all of the rides set up, yet. He also told him that he heard that the carnival guy was looking to talk to him. All Mr. Ken did was thank him for that last bit of information, which Wayne had already told him about.
Matthew told him that he stayed out of trouble, while he was gone, and that he was glad that he was now back. And that was all the pre-teen told his ‘dad’. Kate just chuckled at what he said, knowing that the pre-teen really didn’t like it when Ken went away thinking that he might not return and not be able to adopt him.
Charles began to say something, but then said, “Oh, yea, you know what I was doing while you were gone.” Then he laughed, and so did his ‘brothers’.
Rusty asked, “Mom, what did Charles do while Mr. Ken was gone?”
Kate laughed, and told Rusty, “Rusty, Charles was at that amusement park we went too, don’t you remember? He was there helping get it ready for that ceremony we went to.”
All Rusty said, “Oh, yea, that’s right … he took us on those rides with Ry.” And then the boy went back to eating his breakfast.
Collin told his Big Bro that he thought that his get together last Wednesday with his classmates was a big hit. He added that his ’brothers’ pitched in by acting as chauffeurs to bring them up to the Pavilion and then as servers to keep the snack foods flowing.
The young man thanked his Big Bro for suggesting that he ask his classmates over to get caught up with them. Collin added that he learned what they’ve been up to since graduation, and what they were studying at college. Collin added that it was great that Rodney came and everyone heard how well he’s been doing in college, and that he’ll be a senior in the fall.
Matthew then spoke up and told his ‘dad’, “Yea, and Collin told them to look him up if they were lawyers or CPAs or financial something or others, as when he begins to run his business, he’ll need good people.”
Mr. Ken smiled at Collin and offered that those graduates might be a bit raw under the collar after graduation, so he needs to let them get some years of experience under their belts, before he considers hiring them into his corporation. Collin said he understood what he meant.
When Rusty and Jessy were finished eating, they asked Billy if he was going to help them learn how to ride their skateboards better. But Kate spoke up and told her boys that they were going to get cleaned up first. That didn’t make the two young boys happy at all.
Billy told Rusty and Jessy that even he and his ‘brothers’ had to go and get cleaned up before they could show them how to ride their skateboards, so they needed to listen to their mother and go up and get their showers. Rusty and Jessy slowly got out of their chairs and went with their mom to get cleaned up.
Mr. Ken thanked Billy for saying what he did. Billy smiled and told his foster dad that it was true, that they all needed to go up and get their showers. But Mr. Ken still thanked the teenager for giving Kate the needed help with her boys, and them listening to him was worth more than just a mom’s cajoling them to listen to her.
The rest of the boys then headed upstairs to get their showers and get ready for their day. Mr. Ken decided that he’d better go to his Study to finish reading his newspaper, so Momma Maria could straighten up the Kitchen Nook.
But before he left, he reminded Momma that Reynolds and Sylvia, their two children and the twins would be arriving later that evening. Momma said that she knew that and then she reminded him that her amigas, Sophia and Isabela, would start helping there tonight and until all of his company left. Mr. Ken smiled and then walked to his Study.
Once everyone was ready for their day, Billy took the two younger boys up to the Cove Skate Park. The teenager started by having them put on their helmets and pads, then he had them show him what they could do. The two young boys got on their skateboards, pushed off and they rolled along smoothly. Billy then had them try going up one of the inclines. He told them not to go up too high, but just enough that they felt comfortable.
Rusty went up about half way, across, and then came down without any problem. Jessy, being only six, went straight up, but he came down the same way he went up and then he fell down.
Billy didn’t go over to him when he began to cry. He just told him that falling down was part of learning how to skate. The teenager then asked him to try going across along the lower part like his brother did. Jessy tried that and when he did it, he turned around and had a big smile on his face.
Billy worked with the two boys for about two hours and they were getting more confident with themselves, and with what they could do on their skateboards. Rusty, being eight-years-old, already had better balance and a feel for what he could do. So, he went at some of the obstacles on the Cove Skate Park with more gusto and if he failed, he tried it again.
Jessy, on the other hand, was still not too confident with his balance and it affected what he could do on the skate park. That easily frustrated him when he failed at an obstacle. Billy saw that and he worked with him the most because he knew that once Jessy began to trust his balance, he would be able to do much better on many of the obstacles.
One other thing that bothered Jessy was that he saw his big brother Rusty doing the things that he wanted to do and, when he couldn’t do them, he felt like he would never do them. Billy picked up on that and when the teen’s ‘brothers’ came over, he asked them to work with Rusty and away from them.
Billy then talked with Jessy and told him that he had to stop comparing what his brother could do with what he was trying to do. The older Cover told Jessy that there were two years difference in them, and that was why Rusty could do some of the things that he couldn’t. Billy then asked the younger boy to try harder, but not to try to be his brother. Jessy said he understood and he went back to working on his skating.
Ken and Kate talked about what the week would be like. Ken told her that when the Parchsons arrived, the tempo around here would rise and the boys would welcome the twins back with open arms. The woman’s boyfriend surmised that the exchange of stories will flow all week long, and the talking might rise above everything else.
The two then went out and walked around the carnival to see how things were shaping up. The carnival looked a lot like last years to Mr. Ken. Kate was surprised to see that there was a miniature amusement park right there on The Cove’s grounds. There was a mixture of thrill, family and children’s rides, as well as the games of chance. She also saw that there were food booths, with the names of the churches who were sponsoring them.
Kate had Ken explain why there were churches sponsoring food booths at his carnival. Ken smiled and explained that one way he supported the local churches was that he gave his neighbors vouchers to buy those foods, and when the church groups turned them in, he paid them a certain amount per voucher. He offered that his neighbors got a free carnival and foods, while the local churches also got to highlight the foods, they served at their banquet halls.
Ken explained that with the churches emphasizing the quality of the foods that they can provide, it also allows them to advertise their banquet halls being available for rent. The man told the woman he had fallen for, that it was his way of giving the churches a free public forum to promote themselves, and try to gin up reservations at their halls.
As the two were walking around, the carnival operator saw them and came over to talk to Mr. Ken. The man wanted to talk to him about next year’s carnival. Mr. Ken told him that now wasn’t the right time, as he was showing his guest around.
The owner of The Cove, and the host for the carnival, told the operator that they had the next two days to sit down and talk. Mr. Ken asked the carnival operator if they could talk Tuesday morning at ten, as he had more guests arriving later tonight. The two agreed to meet at ten o’clock on Tuesday.
As Ken and Kate walked, Kate asked Ken why he didn’t want to talk to the man now. Ken told her that this was going to be the last year that the carnival would be held there on The Cove’s grounds. He further explained that he didn’t want the operator to get all upset and out of shape, and maybe do something to effect the carnival, as he had a sweet deal these past five years.
The Covers’ friends had begun to arrive and they split off; some went to skate and some went right out to the cove to swim. The ones who were responsible for the barbeque that Sunday had to stick around the Pavilion, as they would be needed around two o’clock to get the barbeque going.
The ones who went out on the Cove Skate Park saw that Rusty and Jessy were out there with Billy, so they had to give them a wide birth in order that they didn’t run into them. But Billy felt that the boys had been out there long enough, and he asked them if they were ready to go swimming. They enthusiastically said, “YES!”
Billy remembered seeing Mr. Ken and Ms. Kate out walking around the estate, so he took the four-seat golf cart and went looking for them. When he caught up to them, he asked Ms. Kate if he could take her boys out on the towable tube. He told her and Mr. Ken that he’d already asked Jordan to tow them out on the lake and give the boys a nice ride without dumping them into the lake waters. The teen did say that they would all have a life vest on.
Rusty and Jessy pleaded with their mom to let them go swimming with Billy. Ken reasoned that Billy is a responsible teenager, and that he’ll take good care of the boys, if she’ll get them into their swimsuits. It took Kate about twenty minutes to get both boys up to her room, changed and back to the Patio to meet up with Billy.
Billy took the boys over to the rack to get them each a life vest to wear, while on the three-seat towable tube. Jordan was ready and waiting for them, as Billy had asked him to take Ms. Kate’s boys out on the lake for a smooth ride around it without dumping them into the lake’s waters. Charles was going along as the safety observer.
Kate and Ken watched as the Sea-Doo slowly made its way out of the cove and then away from the estate. Seeing her boys floating away, Kate grabbed Ken and told him she hoped she made the right decision. Ken assured her that Jordan, as his senior lifeguard, was very responsible and he would be very careful, as he tows the boys around the lake and lets them see what there is to see there.
The two adults went up to the Pavilion to see what the other boys were up to. Upon arriving, Kate was surprised that Ken had a band there. Ken explained to her that it was Phillip and his friends who formed the band back as school was ending, and that they have come together and were getting better every day.
The two adults listened to the young band play for some time and after a while, Kate told her boyfriend that she was surprised at how well they sounded for being so young. She then noticed that the boys were beginning to set the serving table up for the barbeque, and she knew it was getting time for their late lunch. She then told Ken she hoped the boys wouldn’t miss having a hot dog, which they both loved. Ken assured her that they would be back in time.
Before long, the cook went over and rang the farmhouse bell and the boys and lifeguards out at the cove heard it, and they all got out of the water and started heading to the Pavilion for the burned burgers and hot dogs. Kate looked anxiously out on the lake for her boys.
But before long Kate and Ken heard the Sea-Doo’s motor and they could tell that Jordan was taking his time and making sure he wasn’t scaring the boys, as he gave them a nice ride around the lake. When the five arrived at the Pavilion, everyone had already gone through the line and the burgers and hot dogs were beginning to get a bit cold, so the cook threw them back on the grill to warm them up.
Billy helped Rusty with his hot dog and Charles helped Jessy get his hot dog all slathered with ketchup and some pickle relish. Both boys added some chips to their plate and then they went over to the soda machines and chose the drink they wanted. They then went and sat with their mom and Mr. Ken. The Cover teens then went and fixed their own burgers and sat with their friends.
“So, how was your ride around the lake?’ asked the boys’ mother.
Rusty swallowed what he had in his mouth, took a drink of his soda, and then told his mother, “Mom, it was so much fun. Jordan … he went kinda slow. We wanted him to go faster, but Billy wouldn’t let him. But we got to see a lot of what is around the lake. And he took us by the water park. I hope we can go there. It looks like a lot of fun with all the water slides. Can we go there, mom?” finished Rusty.
“Yea, mom, we want to go there. Can we?’’ They also have a wave pool and it looks like fun,” added Jessy.
Kate looked at Ken to see what he would say. But he didn’t say anything; he just smiled back at her. Kate then whispered to him, “You’re no help.”
After Phillip and his band-mates finished eating and helping clean up, they all headed to change into their swimsuits, so they could swim in the cove waters. Rusty and Jessy wanted to join them, but their mom told them that those boys were too big for them to swim with.
After the disappointed boys went out to ride their skateboards, Robert went over to their mom and asked her if he could take them out on the water toys and let them climb on them and slide down them into the water. The teenager told her that he, Billy and Charles will watch over the boys, and that they’ll have life vests on, and it will tire them out so that they’ll go to sleep real easy tonight.
Kate looked to Ken, who told her that they were her sons, but that his boys were very responsible and that there were four lifeguards out there, too, so Rusty and Jessy will be closely watched.
Kate thought about it for a few moments. Then she called her boys over. “Boys … do you really want to swim and climb on those big water toys out in the cove?” she asked.
“Yea!” they both yelled. Kate then told them that their ‘big brothers’ were going to take them swimming. Robert, Billy and Charles called for them to jump into the golf cart and as quick as that the five of them were off.
Ken told Kate that she could watch her boys from the Patio and that they wouldn’t be the wiser. Kate said that she would like to make sure that the much older boys don’t get too rough with them. The two took a golf cart down to the house and then walked through it and down to the Great Room, and then out onto the Patio. Once there, Ken pulled two chairs over to the ornate banister, so they could watch what was going out on the water toys.
The three older Covers asked the other, older boys to leave the Jungle Joe II, so Rusty and Jessy could play on it. Immediately, the two young boys began climbing on the big legs of the water toy. Rusty didn’t have too much trouble climbing, but Jessy was a tad smaller and his legs weren’t long enough to get all the way up, so Robert helped him get to the top. That way he could slide down into the water where Charles was waiting.
The two boys laughed as they slid down the slide and splashed into the water. Charles then helped them over to the raft and onto it, so they could do it all over again. The boys did that two, or three times, but then they set their sights on the Rave Iceberg water toy.
But the older boys were playing King of the Raft, so Billy recommended that they try the new Rock-It water toy. The two younger boys got on the Rock-It, one on either side and they began rocking the water toy up and down, but because they didn’t weigh much the floating water toy didn’t rock very much.
Phillip and Westin saw the two boys were trying to make the Rock-It work, so they swam over and asked Billy if they could get on with them and make it rock faster for them. Billy told them they could, but that they weren’t supposed to rock so hard that they made them fly off.
Phillip and Westin began rocking the Rock-It and Rusty and Jessy were having a good time now that the water toy was going up and down. Billy told them to hold on tight, or else they would fly off. Well, upon hearing that they would ‘fly off’ Jessy let go on the next time he went up.
Kate saw her little boy go up and off the Rock-It and she jumped off her chair to look to see what happened to her son. Jessy came up from his dunking laughing and said he wanted to do that again. Rusty said it was his turn next. Ken told Kate to try to sit down and relax and that Billy, Robert and Charles are there with her boys, and that they are taking good care of them.
Kate sat down and watched as Rusty flew off the Rock-It the next time and he came up laughing just as his younger brother did. Kate smiled that her two boys were having fun with their ‘big brothers’. It was something that they really didn’t have when they were at home, because there were no other people, other than her and her mother, to take them places to let them have the kind of fun that they were having with their ‘big brothers’.
A slight wind came through the cove that late afternoon, as it usually does, and the young boys told Billy that they were cold. So, Billy took them up and got a towel around them. It was then they saw their mom there.
“Mom, mom,” called out Jessy, “did you see me fly off that Rock-It? That was fun!”
“Yes, I did. And I saw Rusty fly off, too. Did you two have fun with your ‘big brothers’ today??” asked Kate.
Both boys told her how much fun they had today learning how to better ride their skateboards, riding that big tube all over the lake and eating their hot dog and swimming on those big floaty things out in the lake. Kate told them that she was going to take them up and get them out of those wet swim suits and cleaned up for dinner.
Mr. Ken thanked Billy for all the time he spent with Kate’s boys today. Billy told his foster dad that it was fun. The teen explained that with him never having younger brothers this was like him being given the chance to see what it would have been like to teach them things and have fun with them.
Reynolds Parchsons and his wife, Sylvia, their children, Jaxson, who was almost 12, and Alani, who just turned 11, along with the twins Kevin and Kyle, who were now 13 were due to arrive at The Cove sometime between five and six o’clock that Sunday evening.
Momma Maria and her two amigas, Sophia and Isabela, had already begun preparing dinner for the large number of guests that would dine at The Cove that Sunday evening.
The Covers and their friends were up at the Pavilion when the Parchsons were at the Main Gate asking to be allowed to enter. Kevin and Kyle were still in the database, so they told the guards that they would vouch for their guardians.
The guards didn’t know the twins, because they’d been gone for quite some time, and the guards do change over time. Kevin told them that Mr. Ken was expecting them, because they were his guests for the next week to ten days. The guards called the house and Mr. Ken told them that they were his guests and to let them in.
The boys up at the Pavilion saw the new car drive down to the circular drive at the Foyer Door and they figured it had to be Kevin and Kyle, and they all rushed down to see them. The Covers took the golf carts.
The Parchsons were greeted by Mr. Ken, Kate, Collin, and Chief, at the Foyer Door. The twins went immediately to the man and hugged him. Chief was there wagging her tail and barking, wanting them to hug her and scratch her behind her ears, which they did.
As that was all happening, the Cover boys, with Rusty and Jessy, came to the driveway and they all greeted their ‘brothers’, too. It was a big reunion going on out there in front of the house, and as the greetings were going on, introductions were also happening.
Mr. Ken asked everyone to come into the house. Sylvia asked if they could get settled first, but Mr. Ken told her that Momma, and her amigas, were fixing dinner which would soon be served, and that they could get settled after they all had a good evening meal.
Billy, Robert, Charles, Matthew and Phillip told their ‘dad’ that they were going to say goodbye to their friends, and that they would be right back. The Cover boys took the golf carts up to the Main Gate as their friends had begun to depart The Cove.
The Covers reminded their friends that the carnival started tomorrow and if they were referees, they should be there at about 11:30 to help get things ready for the open skating at the Cove Skate Park and otherwise they all needed to wear their wrist bands if they wanted to ride the rides, and to bring their food vouchers if they wanted to eat. The boys then headed back to the house, while parking the golf carts in the Parking Carol.
Mr. Ken couldn’t believe how much the twins had grown since he’d last seen them. He looked them all over and told them that they must have grown a full three or four inches. Kevin smiled, said they had and that they have put on about twenty pounds, too.
Momma came to Mr. Ken and told him that they were ready to serve dinner. The evening’s host then asked everyone to proceed to the Dining Room where they would be treated to a wonderful Mexican dinner.
Momma Maria, Sophia and Isabela had prepared Mexican rice, Mexican Corn Salad, chicken tortilla soup, chicken and beef enchiladas, beef and chicken Fajitas, refried beans, fresh guacamole, homemade salsa, sour cream, chopped tomatoes and fresh tortillas. The women also fixed chicken quesadillas and a cheesy taco pasta for the children, just in case they didn’t like the other foods they had prepared.
Everyone had an enjoyable meal that Sunday evening, and the conversation at the table was plentiful. The twins told their ‘brothers’ all about their new home and their new friends and how much they liked their new home and school. That made Sylvia smile that the boys were truly loving living with them and their cousins.
Jaxson and Alani told everyone how their cousins new computers helped them get better grades the last two school semesters. They explained how Kevin and Kyle showed them how to use the computers, once they arrived, and that they helped them with their homework at times. The two children agreed that their cousins helped them focus better on their schoolwork, and they were happy they had them living with them now.
As everyone was finished eating, the Cover boys began cleaning off the table and taking the dirty dishes out to the Kitchen Nook. That surprised Sylvia and she asked if they did it all the time or was that just for show.
Mr. Ken, her host, told her that the boys always helped Momma Maria clear the table as their way of thanking her for fixing the wonderful meals she prepares for us. He asked her to wait and see what they do when we are all finished, offered the now smiling Ken Thomas, their host.
For dessert that evening the women served caramel cinnamon apple enchiladas along with vanilla ice cream and coffee for the adults. Everyone was full from eating so much Mexican food, especially the Parchsons, who never had real Mexican food served the way Momma and her amigas fixed it, but they all found room for the wonderful, sugary dessert.
When dinner was finally over, the boys again helped clear the table, and then they went over and hugged the three women for fixing the awesome Mexican meal they had that evening. Sylvia was totally surprised at what the boys had done and she even saw the twins had gone over to the women and hugged them to thank them for making such a great dinner. Mr. Ken just smiled over at Sylvia and winked.
Sylvia then said that she wanted to get settled before it got too late. So, Mr. Ken and Kate took her and Reynolds over to the guest house to show them what accommodations they had. Their two young children got to see the loft where they would be sleeping and they loved it. The twins did decide to sleep in the vacant bedroom in the main house.
When everyone knew where they would spend the night, the children wanted to go out and look over the carnival that would be ready and working tomorrow. The adults went with them and as they all walked along, the carnival operator asked them where they’d been, as he was looking for some boys and a girl to try out the rides before they opened tomorrow.
The Cover boys eagerly volunteered to ride. Jaxson and Alani had to ask their mom and dad. Even Kevin and Kyle asked their aunt and uncle if they could ride. Rusty and Jessy were disappointed that they couldn’t ride, as they were just too small for the rides the older children would try out.
But Rusty and Jessy did get to try out a few of the smaller rides, and they got to do that while the older boys and one girl rode the bigger rides. That made them feel much better, as they got to test some rides out as well.
All of the boys, and the one girl, as well as Rusty and Jessy, got to test out the games, too, that evening. It was a nice close out of the evening for everyone, and they all thanked the carnival operator for letting them test everything before tomorrow’s opening.
The whole group went inside and sat down in the Great Room to talk some more. Mr. Ken asked Reynolds and Sylvia what their schedule looked like, so he could tell Momma and her amigas and that way they could plan their breakfast and dinners for everyone. He told everyone that they might be on their own for lunch, but to play that by ear and to check with Momma to see if she had sandwiches or something simple, made for them.
Sylvia told their host that they hoped to visit Vivian on Wednesday and then they wanted to take their son and daughter down to San Antonio to see the Alamo, and then the missions on Thursday. She also said that they would like for them to visit SeaWorld and Six Flags Fiesta Texas while they were here.
Mr. Ken’s boys perked up right away when they heard that the Parchsons wanted to visit those two amusement parks. ‘Dad’ Ken quickly asked his boys if after visiting his five parks that they hadn’t visited enough amusement parks for the summer. The boys looked back and forth to one another, and then they all said, “No!” Then they all laughed.
Kevin spoke up just then said that he and Kyle might want to visit their dad. He said that they weren’t too sure yet, but that while they were back here, they thought they might want to do that. Kyle then said they didn’t know when they would ever get back that way again, so they were thinking about it, but that they still didn’t know if they should. The room was quiet after that.
After a short time, Mr. Ken broke the silence by telling the Parchsons that on the 4th of July he holds the most awesome fireworks display out on the lake, and that they needed to be here. He told them they could sit with them out on the dock, or the cove finger, where they would probably be, and watch without having to fight the crowds.
Mr. Ken also told them that he had wrist bands for them to use to enjoy the carnival and food vouchers and some game tickets, so they could experience the foods that are offered by the church groups out in the carnival grounds and the fun games the carnival also brings. He asked them to remind him in the morning to get them for them.
Rusty and Jessy were yawning the whole time, so Kate said she needed to get her boys to bed. Sylvia said that she should do the same for her two. Ken told his ‘boys’ they should go to their rooms and that Matthew and Phillip should be at their rooms for when their roommates arrive. He asked the boys not to stay up all night talking to Kevin and Kyle, as they had a long day traveling and that they would be there all week for them to catch up.
As everyone was walking to their respective bedrooms, Mr. Ken reminded them that Momma and her amigas would be there at eight in the morning to prepare breakfast for them. He asked everyone to try to be in the Kitchen Nook between eight and eight-thirty, so they all could eat breakfast together.
Matthew and Phillip waited until Rusty and Jessy came to their rooms to help put them to bed, and when the young boys were asleep, they hurried down to Robert’s room where they knew everyone would be talking to the twins.
Mr. Ken came upstairs to say goodnight to the boys and to remind them not to stay up until all hours talking. He didn’t go to their individual rooms, but he did hug each of them there in Robert’s room. He also gave and got a big hug from Kevin and Kyle before he went down to his room to retire for the evening.
Collin and Chief stayed with the boys for quite some time, but before long he recommended that they all go to bed and be downstairs by eight-fifteen, so their ‘dad’ can have a nice breakfast with everyone.
Before long The Cove was quiet, and everyone was happy that the twins had come back to visit.
