From The Previous Chapter:
“Yea … if she hadn’t left me, then Rafael … then he would have come to me for his gun and gotten it and then she … and then she wouldn’t have been hurt and I …. and I wouldn’t be living here,” offered the smiling boy.
Mr. Wayne just smiled and told the boy to not forget to drain his dragon and to sleep well.
Mr. Wayne then went to his room, but along the way Collin asked him if he was going to stop at his room, too. The two had a good laugh over that and the two talked for a few minutes before they both turned in for the night.
The Covers, wherever they were that Friday night, slept well.
Ken, Kate and the boys met in the hotel’s breakfast buffet early that Saturday morning for a quick bite to eat before quickly packing and then heading out to Edgewood for the ten o’clock Grand Re-Opening ceremony of the Edgewood Amusement Park.
Jason and Charles were already out at the park at seven o’clock checking everything and then checking it again. Jason didn’t want anything to go wrong. The electricians and carpenters from the DERR Center were also there checking the electrical hookups and the PA system, while the landscaping crew were there setting out the hundreds of helium balloons in two bunches that the teens would release at the appropriate time.
Ben Walthers and his son, Rylan, arrived just past 7:30 and Rylan quickly headed out to the grandstand area to see what he could do to help. Jason had him pickup any stray pieces of trash, then go and get a broom to sweep the grandstand and the area in front of it.
In the meantime, Ben was inside Jason’s office looking over his notes for the speech he was going to make as the President of Three Finger Entertainment. Ken Thomas would be on the grandstand, but he was relegated to saying very few words, as the owner of the park.
Some of the park’s employees began to arrive around eight o’clock. The ride mechanics had to inspect each and every ride before the rides would open at eleven o’clock, even if the park opened at ten, when the guests could enter and walk around the merchandise stores, get a drink or a bite to eat, while they waited for the ropes to drop allowing them to head off to their special ride.
The food service personnel also arrived, to begin preparing those foods that needed to be prepared, then sent out to the food stands, for the servers to keep warm or then reheat before serving to the park’s guests. They also sorted out those food menu items that would go to which food stand that sold them.
The revenue personnel came in to set up the cash registers for all the merchandise and food stands, the security personnel came in to set up the security entrance areas, the maintenance personnel came in to sweep the entrance area and any other areas that accumulated debris overnight from the winds, then the rest of the workers came in to perform their specific jobs, long before people can enter the park. Getting an amusement park ready for the day’s guests was not an easy task, and it took a lot of people to make it happen.
Ken, Kate and the boys arrived at the park around 9:20. They went into the operations building and Ken Thomas changed into his owner’s polo shirt. He called for Charles to change into his and then told his son to take Rylan over to wardrobe to get him his.
Rylan had no idea what Mr. Ken was talking about, although he saw that Charles was wearing a white polo shirt that had Three Finger Entertainment embroidered on it and also his first name. But when the two teens went to the wardrobe ladies, they had a matching polo shirt for him with his name, Rylan, embroidered on it. He couldn’t put it on fast enough.
“Dad … did you know that they would have a shirt for me like Charles had?” asked Rylan, when he walked back to the operations office where his dad was with Mr. Ken.
But before his dad could answer, the teenager saw that his dad was wearing a special shirt similar to what Mr. Thomas was wearing, but his dad’s shirt also had Three Finger Entertainment and its logo embroidered on it along with the word ‘President’ under it, and his full name. Whereas, Mr. Ken’s had the word ‘Owner’ and his name.
“Wow, look at the shirt that you’re wearing! These all look great and they definitely tell the people who you and Mr. Ken are,” offered Ben’s son.
Ben Walthers smiled at his son and then told him that he knew that they all would be wearing those shirts, and that he also gets to keep his when they leave. That put a big smile on the teen’s face.
While the key Edgewood people were getting ready, Jason was out at the grandstand greeting the other dignitaries, the local mayor, the local state representative, chamber of commerce president, and a few others, who were invited to the Grand Re-Opening of the Edgewood Amusement Park. The local high school band was also out there, playing music for the people who arrived early for the ceremony, to keep them entertained, while they awaited the key Edgewood personnel.
When it was almost time, Mr. Ken sent the teens out first, with the new park’s name banner, and to stand near the balloon release string, which they would pull as soon as Ben would welcome everyone to the Grand Re-Opening.
Kate and the boys followed right along with Charles and Rylan and they stood to the side of the grandstand and waited for Ken and Ben to arrive at the grandstand. The two men arrived about two minutes later to a fanfare of music the high school band leader had them play.
As the key Edgewood people joined those who were already on the raised platform, everyone began to introduce themselves and shake each other’s hands. That process took about three minutes, but before long Ben Walthers, the President of Three Finger Entertainment, LLC, went in front of the podium and got ready to speak.
“Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls … welcome … welcome to the Grand Re-Opening of the Edgewood Amusement Park,” were the president’s first words.
And it was those first words that signaled to Charles and Ryland to pull on their string that opened the top of the container that each held one hundred different colored helium balloons that then floated up into the air. The crowd then applauded loudly.
After the balloons were high in the air, Ben Walthers continued his speech. “Again, I welcome you to the Grand Re-Opening of Edgewood Amusement Park. I am Ben Walthers, the President of Three Finger Entertainment, which manages all of Mr. Ken Thomas’ amusement parks, of which Edgewood is now a member.
“Up here with me is your state representative, John Hill, your Mayor, Addison Kelley, your Chamber of Commerce President, Lucy Alexander, the President of your City Counsel, Roman Powell and the owner of Three Finger Entertainment, and, of course, this wonderful amusement park … Mr. Ken Thomas. (There was some light applause.)
“We all know that this old park was in dire need of a major makeover. But the previous owners … they never saw the need, or desire, to fund it … and over time the park … the park began to show its age. And with that age … came a possible oversight in maintaining the rides, and with that there came that fateful day … that a tragic accident happened.
“The park was already having a difficult time attracting guests and that accident … it caused more and more people to stay away. And, as you all know, at the end of last year the park closed with the hopes of reorganizing to reopen this past spring.
“But as time passed the owners … they could not meet the demands of its creditors and pay its bills and so … and so they filed for bankruptcy. Needless to say, that filing … it resulted in the park going into receivership and the park being sold either as a whole, or in pieces.
“And that brings us to today. Mr. Ken Thomas … he placed a bid to buy the entire park and, to the chagrin of many other amusement park owners, who wanted pieces of Edgewood, his bid was accepted by the Bankruptcy Judge. And starting almost sixty days ago the new owner, Ken Thomas, sent Jason Zimms, the park’s new Operations Manager, here to transform Edgewood into what you will find inside this entrance gate today.
“Jason hired on the majority of the people who had worked here at Edgewood, as well as many more from the community and, of course, the high school students who could work after school hours and after school let out for the year.
“Mr. Thomas … he also hired inspection and repair companies from around the nation to come here and look over each and every ride inside this property and had them perform any maintenance and needed repairs. He did this to ensure … to ensure to his future guests … that all of the rides would be in excellent repair and safe to ride when they came here to visit this newly invigorated amusement park.
“If you’ve been coming to Edgewood before, when you enter you will immediately notice that Jason, and his team of workers, have renovated this park into something well beyond your expectations.
“The park has been open the past few days in what is called a ‘soft’ opening, to allow our team members a chance to get back into the routine of welcoming guests into the park and letting them access the rides and taste our wonderful foods. Now, after today, everyone will be more than welcomed to enter and enjoy Edgewood, as they haven’t been able to in many, many years.
“When Mr. Thomas bought the park, the Rocket … it had already been dismantled and hauled away. But there were two other rides that he thought were beyond their prime, and he had them dismantled and hauled away, as well. And there was one ride, the Hey Day, a nostalgic ride that he felt should be saved. So, Mr. Thomas … he hired a restoration company to totally restore it to as close to its original operation as possible.
“Of course, that left the park short a few rides. Being that it is in the beginning of the season it is virtually impossible to buy new rides and have them installed. But we have contracted for three new rides to be installed at the end of our season at the end of October. But first we will offer what we call a Spook-Tac-U-Lair, which will have ghosts and goblins and many scary things.
“Come next operating season, though, we will have installed a Boomerang roller coaster, (Some applause.) a Wave Swinger swing ride that oscillates as it goes around (Some more applause.) and a 250-foot Drop Tower (And the crowd applauded even more). And later in the spring the Hey Day will also have its Grand Re-Opening. Those are the rides that I can announce today.
“But wait, there might be more. (There were some chuckles in the crowd.) In August Three Finger Entertainment … we will be announcing our new ride acquisitions for all of our amusement parks for the following year and Edgewood might, and I say might, also be on that list, so watch for that announcement.
“And now I want to introduce the owner of Three Finger Entertainment, Ken Thomas, who has another important announcement to make,” finished Ben Walthers.
To a hardy applause, Ken Thomas approached the podium.
“Thank you for that applause. I had looked to purchase Edgewood the year before its unfortunate accident, but the previous owners … they were too proud of their park and wanted way too much money for it. Much more than what I felt it was worth with all of the needed repairs and unperformed park maintenance.
“When the park went into bankruptcy, and I had the opportunity to purchase the park, I jumped at that chance, and here we are today. I hope you like what Jason and his team have done. They have worked tirelessly to clean, polish, paint and do everything else they could to make this park what it is today.
“A few weeks ago, there was a news conference where someone asked if we … if we were going to change the name of the park. That was an unusual question. I thought, as we had just begun the process of getting the park ready to open that changing the name of the park was undoubtedly the last thing on our minds.
“But, alas, we did take the time to think about that; changing the name of the park, that is. And today, I want to announce that we are going … yes, we are going to change the name of the park. Boys …”
And with that, Charles and Rylan unfurled the banner that had the new name of the park, it read:
“Yes, when the park opens next season, it will reopen as Adventure Forest Amusement Park. But today, Edgewood remains, and we are going to celebrate it the rest of this season. All of its merchandise has been reduced considerably, and it will continue to be as the year goes on.
“And, as Ben said, Welcome to Edgewood and we both hope you and your families will enjoy yourselves and will come back again and again.” (The crowd erupted in applause.)
And with that, the high school band played some more music and the dignitaries shook hands and the people around the grandstand waited to talk to Ken and Ben.
Charles and Ryan had those coupons that Ben had made up that gave the bearer a 50% discount on up to four admissions during the week (Monday through Friday) and the teens were only supposed to give out one per person. The band members were the first ones they gave them out to, as that was what Ben told them to do.
Other people came up to them wanting to know what they were handing out. When they learned that the teens were handing out coupons that would give them 50% off admissions, for up to four people, they wanted more than just one.
But the teens wouldn’t give them more than one, but the people pestered them for another one. That was when the security personnel came over and moved the people along. The teens only had five hundred coupons to give away, anyway, and when they were all gone, they headed back inside the park to catch up with their dads.
The carnival company arrived at The Cove bright and early that Saturday morning and quickly began setting the rides up. The carnival’s owner was disappointed that Mr. Ken wasn’t there, as he wanted to talk to him about next year’s contract. But Mr. Wayne told him that he was away for now, but that he would be home later that evening. The man asked the Estate Manager to have Mr. Ken get with him tomorrow.
Later that morning, Billy and Lonnie quickly got to working on their last section of the estate’s front wall. They each took one of the pillars that held the wrought iron entrance gates and began power washing it on all sides and the top. After they finished that, they each took one side of the remaining wall, which was about thirty feet long, that led from the pillar to the estate wall that then went down towards the lake and separated the estate from its neighbors.
The Covers and their friends stayed well away from the carnival men setting up the rides and games. The boys mainly watched as the men brought in the parts and pieces and put them together to complete a ride and then start working on another.
While that was all going on, Phillip and his friends still played their music. They were getting better by the day and they all could feel it. But they told themselves they needed to get a bass player and a keyboard player, if they could find them. But they played on until it was time for the barbeque.
After they ate and helped clean up, Phillip and his friends went and swam. They didn’t go on the towable tube that Saturday, they just swam and relaxed in the warm water in the Jungle Joe II. They didn’t even play King of the Raft with the other boys, because they didn’t want to get hurt and then they couldn’t play in the band.
The boys did talk about the carnival that was being set up. Preston and Bryson had gone to it last year and told everyone that it was fun to ride the different rides and play the games. But because they weren’t big enough to ride some of the rides, they didn’t get to ride all of them. They did say that the food was really good, too.
Westin told them that they have to thank Mr. Ken for giving them the Carnival Gift Packages, so they can enjoy the carnival this year. He reminded them that if they didn’t have those that it would cost them ten dollars plus whatever the food cost. Phillip then lamented that he couldn’t get all of their families the wrist bands and food vouchers, too. His friends thanked him for at least getting them what he did.
Billy’s other friends, the ones who didn’t have to work, did stop by that Saturday. They wanted to know how everything was going at The Cove. They told Billy and Lonnie how they liked working and especially the money they were making. But they did lament that they missed coming to The Cove and the free barbeques. They all had a good laugh.
They asked Billy about the shootout that happened and Billy took them over to show them the bullet holes in the lockers, the garage and Pavilion walls. The teenagers couldn’t believe what they were seeing. Billy also told his friends that Mr. Ken was replacing the skateboards that were destroyed by the bullets.
Billy then told them that he needed to get back to work himself, as he and Lonnie had to get the rest of the estate walls finished before they go into their 4th of July break. His friends said they understood about work hours and such, and they told him that they’d stop by whenever they could.
Their air charter was set for a two o’clock take off back to Austin-Bergstrom Airport. The ceremony only took about forty minutes with all the hand-shakes and speeches, and it was now about eleven o’clock. The airport was about an hour’s drive away, so the group got their things together and placed them in their vehicles, so they would be ready to go when it was time.
Mr. Ken and Mr. Ben sat and talked with Jason about the park and how well he’d done in getting it ready for today. Mr. Ken told the man how proud he was of him and the way he handled all of the problems he had, to get everything straightened out and in place for today. Jason thanked the man for believing in him and giving him Edgewood to manage.
When the men finished talking, the teens asked their dads if there was enough time for them to go over and ride Patches one more time. Ken looked to Ben and said he was game, so the four headed over to the wooden roller coaster. Kate told Ken that she and the boys would wait there.
The four, still wearing their white polo shirts with their embroidering, walked up the Exit and waited to be allowed in to ride Patches. The ride attendants saw Charles and Rylan over at the Exit, so when the coaster train was empty and before the ride operator opened the turnstiles, they let the four in and they took the four front seats of the first car.
Charles stopped and thanked the attendants and then got in the first seat with his dad. Then the ride operator opened the turnstiles and the riders filled the remaining seats. The operator then dispatched the train and soon the coaster train was headed up the lift hill.
The four enjoyed the ride on Patches as it went down that first 110-foot hill with its 78-degree slope before leveling off some and then went racing up the second hill. The coaster was an out and back that had some speed and it did lean to one side or the other a time or two as it went through the hills. Those inclines did give the rider an even better thrill as they rode the coaster.
When the four returned to the station, Charles thanked the ride operator and told him goodbye and said that he might see him again in late July or early August. He then introduced his dad to him, and told him he was the one who owned the park, and that they announced that the park would be renamed Adventure Forest beginning next year, just in case he hadn’t been told.
They all shook hands and before long the people waiting to ride began to call out that they wanted to be let in to get seated. Mr. Ken told the ride operator to go ahead and open the turnstiles and that Charles should be back later in the summer.
The ride operator asked if Rylan would be back. Ben said he might bring him back with him, if he stays out of trouble. They all had a good laugh and they walked to the Exit and then headed to the operations building. There the four changed out of their shirts into something they could wear on the airplane. Mr. Ken left his shirt there for the next time he visited, whereas Mr. Ben, Charles and Rylan were taking theirs home with them.
They all decided to get an early start on their drive to the airport, so they shook hands with Jason, Braxton and Tucker, wished them a great season, then they drove over to the airport to await their air charter.
At the airport, the teens helped place the bags on the TSA cart so they could be screened before they would be loaded onto the charter plane. They all went through the TSA screening and then they sat in the terminal talking.
Charles and Rylan kept Rusty and Jessy occupied by playing a few games with them. They first played Rock-Paper-Scissors with them. The two younger boys had fun playing with the older boys, but after a time they got bored with it.
Charles then brought out his Go-Pro and began showing the two boys some of the videos he was able to take while he was at Edgewood. That kept the two young boys entertained for quite some time as they got to see some areas of the park they didn’t remember seeing, even if the screen was so small.
The three adults sat and talked about the ceremony and how they thought it went. Kate, being the innocent observer was asked to tell them how she saw the entire thing.
Kate told them that she felt it was quick and direct, and luckily it didn’t have a bunch of wind-bag politicians making any speeches about the park being reopened. The three of them then laughed. Kate added that she liked that it highlighted why the park was bought by Ken and how they made it safe and what they intend to do in the off-season to replace the missing rides. She further hoped that they will add more rides to expand the park and make it much better than it already is.
As they were all talking, the air charter arrived, but it needed to refuel for the three-hour return flight to Austin-Bergstrom. The refueling would take between 30-40 minutes.
Rusty and Jessy looked out the terminal window as the refueling truck drove up to the airplane. They were fascinated by watching the man hooking the fueling hose up to the airplane’s wing and then stand there. Jessy asked Charles why he did that. Charles said that just like when his mom puts gas in her car, the man was waiting until the tank was full before he could drive away. That satisfied the young six-year-old boy.
The group loaded on the air charter and took off only fifteen minutes later than scheduled. Then once they reached cruising altitude, the flight attendant came back and began asking what they would like to drink and then eat.
The boys, of course got sodas, while the adults asked for coffee. The flight attendants cooked hamburgers and French fries for the four boys and steaks and baked potatoes with green beans for the adults.
After the boys ate, the older ones showed the younger ones some things out of the windows, but eventually the food and the early morning caught up with Rusty and Jessy and they wanted to lay down. So, Charles and Rylan made up two of the back sofas for them to take a nap. Then they relaxed in their comfortable seats and eventually fell asleep themselves.
The three-hour flight got them back at the Austin-Bergstrom Airport at around 4:15 CDT. Then until they off-loaded and retrieved their luggage, used the restrooms and filed into the limo it was almost five o’clock. The seven travelers then had an eighty-to-ninety-minute ride to The Cove, depending on traffic that Saturday evening.
Mr. Ken had called ahead to Mr. Wayne to let him know when he should expect them back home. He also called Ed Henry, the manager of the Four Corners Restaurant to reserve tables for fifteen. He talked Ben into calling his wife, Addison, to have her and Ryleigh join them for dinner, since they would be over there to pick him and his son up to take them home.
When the limousine drove into The Cove it was almost 6:15 and the Cover boys, especially Matthew, were happy as could be. They greeted everyone and then helped off-load their bags. Rusty and Jessy were happy to see all of their ‘big brothers’ and they were talking a mile a minute with them.
Mr. Ken had Billy take Kate and her boy’s bags up to the vacant, guest en suite, and then come right back down. Addison had Rylan move his and his dad’s bags to their vehicle, while Ken and Charles took their bags to their rooms. When everyone was ready, they all piled into their respective vehicles and headed over to the Four Corners restaurant.
Ed Henry was anxiously waiting for the restaurant’s owner and his party of fifteen to arrive. Mr. Ken hadn’t been there for quite some time, so he wanted to make sure everything was perfect for the man. The reserved tables were all ready and waiting and the servers were prepped to take the party’s orders and get them their drinks and salads quickly.
The party of fifteen arrived in three different vehicles. Addison Walthers drove her family, Billy drove the Covers, and Mr. Wayne drove his own vehicle, as he was going to his own apartment after dinner.
Ed Henry met everyone at the entrance and the Hostess began showing everyone where they would be seated at the three tables of five. Mr. Ken, Kate, Ben, Addison and Wayne sat at one table. Collin, Billy, Robert, Ryleigh and Rylan sat at another table, while Charles, Matthew, Phillip, Rusty and Jessy sat at the other one.
The three servers brought over glasses of water and the menus, as they knew there would be a few guests who’d not eaten there regularly. The boys already knew what soda and salad they wanted, but Ryleigh and Rylan needed a few minutes to look over the menu, so the server waited.
The boys at the other table had to tell Rusty and Jessy what was on the menu, so they could decide what they would like to order. So, the server had to wait until the younger boys thought about what they would like to eat.
The adults took a little longer, too, as Addison, Kate and Ben hadn’t been at the restaurant much and they wanted to look over the menu a bit longer in order to decide what they wanted.
It took the party of fifteen about seven minutes to fully look over the menu and decide what they wanted to drink, what salad they wanted and which steak to order. The servers took their orders and sent them to the kitchen, and, in the meantime, they filled their drink and salad orders and brought them right out.
The Cover boys asked Charles and Rylan what they did at Edgewood to get the park ready for the Grand Re-Opening. The biggest thing Rylan told them about was about the polo shirt they had for him for the ceremony. He told them he had no idea they had one for him and he also got to keep it. Billy and Robert told him that all of Mr. Ken’s ‘boys’ as well as Mr. Wayne, Mr. Dan and Mr. Dennis got one, as well.
Charles told Matthew and Phillip that they hung lots of red, white and blue bunting and streamers all around the park, as well as the same-colored helium balloons. He also told them that he and Rylan got to ride Patches a few times, and that it was an awesome ride. Phillip wanted to know if their ‘dad’ changed the name of the park. Charles told him the name of the park will change as of next season to Adventure Forest.
Addison and Wayne were also curious as to what happened at the ceremony earlier that morning. Kate took the question and said she was essentially a bystander and she thought it went really well. She told the woman and Wayne that Ben did a quick synopsis of how Ken got to own the park and how Jason and his team worked hard to get the park ready for today.
Kate explained how Ken hired inspection and repair companies from around the nation to come there and work on all the rides, and then Ben told the crowd how they can be assured that the rides are in excellent repair and safe to ride when they come there, to their newly invigorated amusement park.
Kate then told them how Ken told the crowd how he wanted to buy the park previously but that the previous owner wanted way too much for it, but when it came up in the bankruptcy court, he put in a bid and ultimately won the right to buy it.
Kate went on and told Wayne and Addison that he was asked previously if he was going to change the name of the park and he told them that he hadn’t thought about it at the time. But after he had the chance to think about it he told them that at the beginning of next season the park would be known as Adventure Forest Amusement Park.
The conversations at the tables filled in the time that it took for the kitchen to prepare their steaks, and they were all surprised that their steaks came out so quickly, when in reality they came out in the same amount of time they would usually take.
The conversation at the tables did slow down quite a bit, although at the boy’s tables they still wanted to know more about what Charles and Rylan did. Of Course, Charles and Matthew helped cut up Rusty and Jessy’s steaks, so they could eat them more easily.
Ed Henry did stop by all of the tables to make sure their steaks were done the way his guests wanted them. Everyone told him that the service was wonderful tonight, and their steaks were perfect. The boys did tell Mr. Henry that they love that he was preparing his steaks much better than ever before. Ed Henry smiled and thanked the boys, knowing they weren’t afraid to speak up, if they had a problem.
When dinner was over, the Cover boys asked their ‘dad’ if they could drive the Go-Karts. ‘Dad’ Ken said that Ben and his family might want to head on home, but Rylan and Ryleigh asked if they could drive them, too, as they don’t get over there that much.
So, the boys, and one girl, got in line and waited their turn. Unfortunately, Rusty and Jessy were much too young and too small to drive the Go-Karts. So, the young boys had to stay with the adults and watch from the sidelines, as their ‘big brothers’ drove the karts.
Ryleigh asked why they had to wait in line if Mr. Ken owned the Go-Kart Track. Phillip told her that it wouldn’t look good if they came there all the time and got ahead of everyone. He said that they even had to pay to ride every time, too, as the man who operates the concession has to account for the gas and wear and tear on the equipment. Ryleigh and Rylan were surprised that Mr. Ken made his own kids pay to drive his Go-Karts.
When it came time to drive the karts, the group took up eight of the karts, so four other people got to race along with them. They were in the front of the pack of karts and when the green light was lit Robert and Billy raced out front. Phillip figured he’d just drive and have fun. He didn’t want to try to beat his ‘brothers’ that night.
Rylan did try his darndest to stay up front, but not having driven the karts very much he just couldn’t keep up with the Covers who drove them often. Even Ryleigh knew enough not to try to stay up with those who jumped out front. She stayed with Phillip and just drove to have fun.
Robert beat Billy tonight with Collin coming in third. The rest of the group came in right after them along with the other driver. Mr. Ken didn’t add any extra laps that night. After that, everyone said their goodnights to the Walthers and headed home in their own vehicles.
Once the Covers were back at The Cove, Mr. Ken made sure Kate and the boys were settled in their guest suite. Ken did suggest to Kate that Rusty could sleep in with Matthew and Jessy could bunk in with Phillip, in order to give her some privacy and peace and quiet. She agreed to give it a try. The two young boys were smiling big when they heard they were going to sleep in the ‘big boys’ rooms.
With it having been a long day for Mr. Ken, Kate and the young boys, Mr. Ken didn’t have his meeting in the Study that night. He asked the older boys to just relax for the rest of the evening and that he’d catch up with them in the morning.
Kate got her boys into their pajamas and Matthew got Rusty into his bed after the boy used the bathroom. Phillip did the same for Jessy. The older boys then met in Billy’s room for a while to talk about their ‘dad’ and Charles being back and that the twins would be there tomorrow, and how they needed to let their ‘dad’ and Kate have some time together.
With ‘dad’ Ken back home, and the Covers all together again, The Cove was quiet and everyone slept well throughout the night.
