As the prearranged time for everyone to return approached all the teams slowly made their way back into the abandoned embassy and into the hidden barracks in the basement. They all quickly washed and dressed in sweats to relax after the long night. They gathered around the table in the barracks kitchen, ready to review their first adventure out in the city.
Juan looked down at the map. “In a nutshell, we can confirm the majority of known troops are in and around the National Mall. There are heavy air defense emplacements on each end clustered around the Lincoln monument and The Capitol building, as well as heavy Air defense around the White house and Jefferson memorial. This is nothing new and Admiral Norris already knows all this but it does confirm their intel. The weird thing is this neighborhood in north DC that is closed off. We snuck into a building that overlooked the area and it’s really creepy it looks completely abandoned.”
Brett leaned over the map. “Yup Parkview, no one goes in or out according to Gil, he said no one knows what’s going on there. We need to figure it out, fast.”
Blake stood up and walked around the map so he could see the area. “It’s strange for sure. Should we see if Duck Island can get a drone or satellite image of it?”
Brett pointed his finger at the area. “Kyle, Juan in our next report to DI tell them about Parkview and see if they can get some some tech guru to take pictures.” He looked up to see Juan and Kyle nod in acknowledgment “We got some really good information from my friend Gil. He basically told us the Argentinians are keeping all the US army brats from Arlington at Dumbarton house. Ashwood’s people rounded up all the kids while they were still in school, back right before are this crazy shit started, a day or two before the election. That’s how they are controlling what’s left of the military in Arlington, which as far as Gil knows, is just the tomb guards. The Commander’s son is with Gil but his dad doesn’t know. We may be able to use that if we can somehow make contact. They have also rounded up street kids and are using Dumbarton as a kind of pleasure palace.”
Kyle sighed. “We could try to get the commander to work with us but if their kids are still being held hostage, I don’t think we could count on his soldiers.”
Brett rolled his chair over to the counter and grabbed the bowl of fried potatoes from Blake and brought it to the table. “We need more info about Dumbarton, the Tomb Guards and Parkview. I think I could get into Parkview, but I am not sure about Dumbarton.”
Blake finished putting the sausages on a plate and set it on the table and pulled up a chair. “I think it would be better of Juan and Carlos tried to use their cover to get into Parkview. We could go out by Dumbarton and try to snoop around a little.”
Kyle looked over at Ryan and raised his eyebrows slightly. Brett laughed. “That was about as subtle as a 5 ton elephant. What do you guys know.”
“The Latin Kings here, in DC supply Dumbarton with drugs, they still have a source moving small amounts of the stuff in from the south. It trickles in but they have enough to make another delivery soon. They told us that they have been offered sex with the kids numerous times. Boys and girls. They claim they are not into that and trade the drugs they have for food and weapons.”
Brett leaned back. “Are they working with the Argentinians?”
“Yes but I don’t think it’s truly willingly, I think it’s just survival. They despise the Argentinians but are doing what they can to survive and stay off the radar.”
“You think you could convince them to work with us and raid Dumbarton when the time comes?”
Ryan laughed. “We ain’t no Bucky but we sure as shit can try. They are smarter than you think and you can bet they figure since we are here some major shit is about to go down. You have to think of them like mercenaries. If we offer them a better deal, than they already have, they will do whatever it takes.”
Everyone laughed before Brett continued. “So here is what I am thinking for tonight. Carlos, Juan you guys have two missions. One, see if you can get eyes into Parkview. Second, figure out a way to talk to the Tomb Guards Commander. Feel him out and if you think it’s right let him know who you are. Don’t give away the rest of us yet, but tell him a group of commando’s might just be able to take Dumbarton and save their kids.” He paused and looked around. “Kyle send a report to Duck Island about what we know so far. Don’t include the tomb guards yet as they are still an unknown. See if we can nail down a time for actual attack. Ryan I want you to take Blake with you to meet the Latin Kings and see if we can be a part of their escort into Dumbarton. I need to get food and water over to the kids, I can do that alone.”
Juan dropped his fork. “No fucking way, no one especially you goes anywhere alone.”
“Ok, Ok, fine. Kyle will come with me and babysit me. Besides, he can lead the way and I can stare at his butt the whole time.”
Kyle just shook his head
Brett Stretched. “Ok now I am exhausted and want some sleep.”
Everyone nodded their agreement and started to shuffle off to their beds. James went into the kitchen and then stared down at the notes on table. He smiled and walked away to get some sleep.
Brett woke to someone shaking him. “Brett, we got a message from Duck Island.”
Brett grabbed his watch, rubbed his eyes and looked up at Juan “Ok let me take a piss and I will meet you in the Kitchen.” He looked at his watch again. “Might as well get everyone up, close enough to time anyway.”
Juan walked away and started waking everyone. Within a few moments the room was filled with boys trying to wake up. A few minutes later everyone gathered in the kitchen. Brett rolled his wheelchair in and Juan handed him an envelope. Brett opened it and read it. Everyone was watching him waiting. He set the envelope down and looked at everyone. “Business as usual, no updates on the attack timeline but Duck Island says we should be prepared at anytime and when it starts we need to get back here to the embassy as quick, and I quote, ‘as fucking possible’. So let’s eat and carry on with the mission.” He picked up the envelope and tucked it into his jacket. Everyone started to grab food and Brett caught Juan staring at him. He rolled his chair back. “I need to pee first. Be back in a sec. Hey Juan you feeling like pushing so I can talk to you about my idea for Parkview?”
Juan walked over and grabbed the back of the chair. “Sure no problem.”
Juan pulled him the rest of the way out and Blake jumped up and held the door for them. Juan pushed him down the hall and waited to they were way out of earshot. “So what gives?”
“Just uncomfortable about telling foreign spies, the exact date of a US Military attack. I figure their military is part of it, if they needed to know their government would tell them.”
Juan just thought for a moment before responding. “You never cease to amaze me. You’re pretty fucking smart for your age. So what do we do about the rest of team?”
“Tell them one at a time and reinforce they can’t mention it in front of Carl or James. If they ask why tell them it’s a directive from Duck Island. That should keep them from worrying, we need them to be able to work with Carl and James. Let’s see if their government informs them and if they tell us.” They reached the bathroom and Juan stopped in front of the door.
“We won’t know if they have been informed or not.”
“Good point. Once we get closer I will ask Blake to start doing his mind reading thing a little more.”
Juan leaned against the hall wall. “You gonna go pee or was this just a ruse to get me alone with you.”
Brett wiggled his eyebrows at Juan. “I have been trying to get you alone since the day I met you.”
“Very funny Brett but I prefer my men way more mature.” He turned and walked away with Brett smiling at him as he departed.
Brett returned to the kitchen where everyone was eating and chatting about their planned activities for the day. Schedules were being coordinated, routes planned, even a list of needed supplies to watch for, was being made. Brett just smiled, they picked the perfect team.
Juan and Carlos disappeared for a few minutes and returned in their Argentinian officer uniforms. “We are headed to Arlington first today, it should be the easiest to take care of, then we can can snoop around to try get some info about Parkview.”
Brett looked up at them. “Be careful out there. Kyle and I are gathering up some MRE’s for the kids with Gil. Ryan and Blake just left.”
“See you all in a few hours.”
Ryan pointed out the warehouse across the street from them. The faded sign near the roof of the building proclaimed the business as the New York Wire Company. “That’s the place. Just follow my lead in there and try to not talk to them directly.”
Blake just smiled. “Am I too white?”
“Yes, now let’s go.”
Ryan stood and walked across the street towards the entrance. They both heard someone whistle from the roof of building. The door opened and two very tough looking thugs stepped out. “Yo Ryan what’s with the Gringo?”
“He is with me, Jose. We are here to see Javier.”
“He is inside, follow me.”
As they walked through the mostly empty warehouse Blake took mental notes on the number of people and weapons they had. Mostly small arms, a couple of MP-5’s, but nothing really heavy. Jose stopped at what would have been the warehouse offices and knocked on the door. “What the fuck I told everyone not to disturb us.”
“Sorry boss but Ryan is back and he has another Gringo kid with him this time.”
“Tell him to chill I will be out soon.”
Jose turned and looked at the two. “You heard him. Wait over there, Javier will get you when he is ready.”
They both walked over and sat on some old tattered chairs arranged in a circle around a giant old wooden spool. As soon as they sat down a young girl walked over and sat on the arm of the chair Blake was sitting in. “Hey papi, don’t let these idiots scare you, they just a bunch of scared little kids acting tough.”
Blake looked up at her and smiled. “Thank you, although I am not very frightened by them.”
She moved to sitting on the giant spool right in front of him. “Baby, you are a real tough guy aren’t you. I can see it in your eyes. You seen some shit. I’m Marissa.” she reached out her hand to shake his.
“Blake, nice to meet you Marissa.”
Just then they heard a shout from behind them. “You hitting on my sister?”
Blake, Ryan and Marissa all stood. Marissa walked over to the guy. “Javier, don’t start pulling some big brother shit now.”
Javier smiled and looked at Blake. “You could do worse.”
Marissa playfully punched him in the arm. “Don’t go trying to marry me off just yet. I was just being nice and introduced myself.”
By this point Blake and Ryan were standing in front of them. “Javier this is my friend Blake, he came in with us.”
Javier looked around. “Let’s go talk in my office.”
As they all walked back towards office Marissa stopped and smiled. “Make sure you say goodbye before you leave, Blake.”
Blake smiled. “I will, I promise.”
Ryan and Blake followed Javier into the old office. It was set up as sort of mini apartment with the former reception room, a sitting room made up of mismatched chairs and tattered couch. A young latino man in his early early 20’s was sitting in one of the chairs and stood up as they entered. Blake noticed the man was flush like he has just worked out or exerted himself in some way and his hair was a little messy. Blake smirked at Javier.
“This is my main man Miguel. Miguel this is Ryan and Blake, Ryan runs with Rico, you remember Rico from NY?”
“Yeah Rico, he chill.”
Javier looked back at them. “Grab a seat. Marissa grab these guys a beer.”
Ryan shook his head. “No thanks Bro, not a drinker.”
Blake just shrugged. “I will have one, Thanks.”
Javier smiled. “You like my sister eh Gringo.”
Blake actually blushed a little. “Nah man, it’s not like that.”
Javier just smiled as Marissa brought the beers in and then went back out to the warehouse area.
Ryan took in a heavy breath of air and just blurted out. “We need your help.”
Javier leaned back and smiled. “Oh really. You know I will do anything I can for Rico’s peeps. Tell me how can we help.”
Blake looked over at Ryan and nodded letting Ryan continue “We want your help sneaking us into Dumbarton.”
Javier looked over at Miguel and smiled. “Hmm you want me to sneak you into a place that I have already made a deal with. How exactly do you think we can pull that off. ”
“We go with you on your next run as some of your posse.”
Javier said nothing for a few seconds before replying. “Doable, but what’s in it for us? We are taking a huge risk pissing off the Argentinians.”
Blake sat up. “What do you need?”
Javier smiled. “So the Gringo speaks. Guns, big guns and lots of ammo.”
“No.”
Javier leaned back. “Good talk, you can show yourselves out.”
“I can’t offer you guns and ammo because we don’t have enough to offer you. I can get you food, water, medicine probably even booze but not guns and ammo. Those are in very short supply and very high demand.”
“So I guess it’s not worth it to you.”
Blake thought for a second. “Do you have enough food to last for a few months at least? How are you going to handle the deep winter, with no power, very little food and no heat. I can get you a generator with lots of fuel, plus a big supply of food. It’s getting cold Javier your men are only going to last so long on what you have been able to stock up so far. You have focused on weapons already you got enough to get by with. You don’t have supplies and pretty soon this city is going to be crawling with the real military and the dude in charge is not nearly as generous as I am. You try to fight his people or steal from them he will crush you like cockroaches. It doesn’t have to be that way. Listen we tag along just to scope the place out. The dicks they don’t know any better and you get some serious supplies to make your life a little more comfortable.”
Javier smirked and stood up and started pacing. “Gringo, I have seen them all, This new guy coming to take over ain’t gonna be no different. Everyone has a price.”
Blake smirked back at him. “Not this one, Javier, he is the real deal. This man will sacrifice everything to put this country back together and that includes me. He will not stop until the American people are safe.”
“Whatever Gringo, we learned to survive way before all this shit went down and we will find ways to continue to survive.”
Blake leaned back. “That’s what I am offering you a way to survive for a little bit longer. You have heard about New York? Shits getting done there and the Police and Rico’s people are working together to get it done. Rico is like the Fucking Mayor of New York City right now. You don’t want to be on the wrong side of this shit storm Javier.”
Javier looked over at Miguel, who nodded at him. “Ok fine, say we go along and help you all, what guarantees are there we are not going be rounded up and arrested later.”
Blake took a deep breath. “Ryan here is now technically a Captain in the United States Marines, I am a senior Officer, Kyle you met yesterday is a senior Captain and our Boss Brett is a Major. You want to know what else we all have in common?” Blake didn’t wait for them to answer. “We are all under 17. The Power is shifting in the country and its shifting fast. Kids with very different backgrounds are running secret military operations, gang members and cops are working together to get people food and shelter. Do you know who made that shit happen? A Gay Navy Seal, the baddest mother fucker on the east coast. Close 2nd is his boyfriend, a fucking army recon Colonel, and they are out of the closet. Times are changing Javier. People are opening their eyes and realizing they have to take risks and not one of us is better than the other. We have all done some bad shit in the past, this is not the time to worry about that petty shit. This is the fucking time we kick these mother fucking douchebags out of our fucking home. Javier you ran this city before the war, you ran it with drugs and violence. I know you didn’t choose that, you didn’t have a choice with this fucked up system trapped out in a set life pattern. Now is the time to break that pattern Javier, this is your fucking golden opportunity ”
Javier glanced over at Miguel. Both of them looked very uncomfortable as Blake stared them down. “You want guarantees those are your guarantees, real people that everyone has tried toss aside standing up and saying fuck this.”
“Ok we get you, we will help but there are a couple stipulations. One, You get us as much food, generators and fuels as you can, I want this warehouse fully stocked. When your bad ass guy gets here I want this warehouse to become a place people can get food and supplies at, with me and my people in charge. Two, you get us a couple M4’s and a couple hundred rounds for each. We are going to need to protect the warehouse against looters and other gangs.” He paused and took a deep breath, “Possibly even some of mine.”
Blake looked over at Ryan and they both nodded. Blake turned back to Javier. “We will start working on the supply center as soon as we get back, but under one condition, You are just handing out the supplies not making a profit off it. If I find out otherwise I will be back here with a hole lot of badass mother fuckers behind me. I can get you Four M4’s and 250 rounds each, if everything goes well and you play nice I will be able to get you more and maybe even some help.”
Javier smiled “One last thing, you need to know. I trade the drugs for weapons and ammo and also…” He paused and turned and looked at Miguel who just nodded at him. He turned and looked at the two almost strangers before him. He could not believe he was about to trust them to the point they could destroy him. “I buy one of the street kids from them.”
Blake and Ryan just stared at him. Blake using every ounce of his energy to control his anger slowly stood. “For what exactly?”
Javier looked up at him. “What? Oh no nothing like that man, thats sick. I got them all together in a safe place, some of our girls are looking after them.”
Blake sat back down and let out a sigh of relief. “How many you got.”
“Six from the school so far but we have a couple of my guys kids here, Miguel’s baby boy plus a couple others. Then a couple little bro’s so it’s about 12 altogether. I just didn’t want you to be surprised that’s all. You react all surprised and shit and our whole fucking cover is blown.”
Blake and Ryan both looked at each other before Ryan responded. “We get it and understand. We can play it off.”
Blake nodded his agreement. “Get me ages and an exact number I will make sure you have all the necessities to take care of them.”
Javier nodded and reached his hand out to Blake’s. “Deal, I will send the message we are delivering tomorrow night. But just you two, no one else.”
Blake took a big gulp of his beer and shook Javier’s hand . “Deal, We will be back at sunset tomorrow. I will bring as much food as we can carry for you.”
Javier and shook hands. “So you all planning on taking out that place.”
Blake smiled. “Not sure, that’s why we want to see it.”
“You’re gonna need a lot of help, just something to think about.”
Ryan stood up and nodded to Blake. “We will talk about that after we scope the place out.”
Javier smiled and nodded his head. “Fair enough. Now get out of here so Miguel and I can start setting it up. But take these first. He threw two yellow strips of cloth at them. Tie them around your arm and the army guys won’t bother you.”
“Thank you. See you tomorrow night.” Ryan and Blake walked out of the office area and back into the warehouse. Marissa spotted them right away and walked over.
“Whatever you may think of my brother he is just trying to keep a lot of people safe.”
Blake smiled at her. “We know and so are we. For right now your brother’s goals and ours match, as long as that stays the same we are on the same side.” He smiled at her “See you tomorrow night, Marissa.”
Juan looked across the desk at the US Army officer sitting across from him. He smiled because of the the typical Army office, giant gray desk with the US flag behind it on one side and the Army flag on the other. The Officer sitting across from him was a career soldier, Army to the core… “Major Rizzo, let me be clear we know you are only cooperating because you and your men’s children are being held hostage. What we want to know is how far you are willing to take that cooperation?”
“Captain Diego, I don’t understand what the ASI has to do with this. We have done everything General Manzo has asked of us. The only thing we have asked in return is we be allowed to conduct our duties at the Tomb.”
“Major. No one wants to interfere with your ceremonial duties, our deal has been quite simple we keep your children and loved ones safe and fed and you continue to guard the tomb and not interfere in our operations but recently we have reports of.. Shall we say… dissident elements in the city that wish to disturb the status quo?”
The Major’s quickly tried to mask the look of surprise on his face. “This is the first I am hearing of this.”
“So no one has tried to contact you?”
The Major smirked. “Even if they did you still have our kids.”
Carlos stood up and began looking out the window at the small base on the edge of Arlington National Cemetery. “You and your men have been left alone to do as you wish Major. Not a bad deal in the current situation, I would think.”
“We have our duties and we take them seriously.”
Juan leaned back in his chair. “What would you say if I told you I could end this little standoff and return your families to you.”
“I would say I didn’t realize the ASI had the much authority.”
“There are many elements within the ASI Major. We can make almost anything happen. If I returned your children to you unharmed could I count on you to continue to… behave.”
The Major leaned back in his chair and thought for a second before responding. “A Tomb Guards duty is first and foremost to the tomb nothing else. We will sacrifice everything for the Tomb, Captain, everything. His Second Duty is to his Country his third duty is to his family. You are holding the tomb and my family hostage so at this point I must cooperate.”
The two Argentinian officers smiled at each other. “And your men feel the same way, Major?”
“If they didn’t they would not be Tomb Guards.”
Juan smiled as he continued the roll of Captain Antonio Diego of the Argentinian Directorate of Secretary of Information. “So we must maintain the status quo.” He pulled out a pack of cigarettes and lit one up.
“Captain there is no smoking in here.”
Juan smiled and leaned over and stubbed the cigarette out on the sole of his boot. “My apologies Major. That is all for now thank you for your time.” The two officers stood.
“Don’t forget your cigarettes Captain.”
“Keep them major, you might find Argentinian cigarettes enjoyable.”
The major was about to respond when he looked down at the pack of Marlboro lights on his desk. He paused. “Good day you to Gentlemen.” The Major waited until the two were out of his office and his executive officer stepped in. He reached out and picked up the pack of cigarettes and stood.
“Jerry, let’s go try an Argentinian cigarette.”
Lieutenant Jerry Caldwell Executive officer of the Tomb Guards knew his commander did not smoke. Both were runners and ran together every morning, he knew this was out of character and said nothing as he followed the senior officer out of the building to a small cluster of trees away from everyone.
“Jerry what did you make of this. Two ASI officers asking all sorts of questions about what would happen if our kids were not hostages and then they leave a cigarette pack on my desk and tell me to enjoy Argentinian cigarettes but these are Marlboro lights. “
“Not sure sir, accident or intentional?”
“Their accents aren’t quite right either. These guys look like the real deal but something in my gut tells me otherwise. They told me there’s someone in the city trying to disrupt their operations. Have you heard anything, Jerry?
“Not yet sir but I can chat up Lieutenant Garcia, his platoon should just be finishing up guard duty. I really don’t think he agrees with what his country is doing and honestly feels bad.”
“Ok Jerry but go slow and don’t push him, we need to be on our toes.”
“Of course Major.”
Lieutenant Caldwell walked away from his commander’s office and left the building. He looked around and walked over to the Officers Recreation Building. He knew it would be empty because it was only Him and The Major left on the base except the Argentine officers. Only one ever used the gym in the building and Jerry knew he would be here after his rotation as officer of the guard.
Jerry walked to his locker and started to change into his physical fitness uniform. He had just pulled his shorts on over his compact frame when he heard the squeak of the door to the building open down the hall. His heart started beating fast as he quickly pulled his t-shirt on and began putting his sneakers on his feet. He heard the door to the locker room open and the footsteps coming around the corner. He stood up and turned just as Argentinian Army Lieutenant Gabriel Garcia entered the changing area.
“Lieutenant Caldwell, it’s a pleasure to see you again.” The Enemy said as he seemed to float across the room to Jerry. His smooth light olive toned skin on his tall muscular basketball player build caused Jerry to just stare at him.
The shorter but more powerful American looked up at his enemy as the two stood with chest almost touching. Jerry smiled. “Gabe shut up and kiss me already.”
Gabe’s drop dead gorgeous smile beamed down at his lover and he leaned over and kissed him. The kiss deepened into a passionate makeout session with each of them fighting to invade the others mouth with their own tongue. The American won this time and the Argentinian surrendered himself into the Americans arms and let himself be controlled. Jerry slowly pushed him down onto the bench and began slowly lifting his shirt taking time to run his hands all over the areas of flesh he exposed. He broke the kiss for a moment to take the shirt over the top of his adversaries head and then immediately moved down to begin kissing and nipping his nipple with his teeth. Jerry gradually kissed and licked his way down Gabe’s abdomen, before he stopped and looked up at the embattled Argentine under his spell.
Gabe looked back down at him smiled. “I am all yours tonight babe.”
Jerry reached his fingertips into the waistband of the occupying officer’s shorts and slide them down underwear and all. The sight that greeted him put a huge smile on his face as he engulfed the entire thing with his mouth. He administered his attack spectacularly committing himself with every reserve he had, then quickly pulling back as Gabe reached the edge. Over and over again he brought Gabe to just shy of the point of no return and then retreated. Until Gabe was begging to be allowed to surrender.
The two lovers rested on the gym mats in the weight room. The Argentinian officer was curled up next to the American Lieutenant with his head on Jerry chest. He slowly ran his fingers through the hair on Jerry’s chest. Gabe raised his head from looked up at his lover. “What did the ASI want with you guys.”
“It’s weird, something about someone disrupting operations in the City. The Major and I know nothing about it.”
Gabe furrowed. “Thats weird we haven’t received any reports.”
“You know the ASI better than me, would they hide something like that?”
“The ASI will do whatever they want. They have complete autonomy and are ruthless bastards. Some of the guys I work with make me sick but the ASI takes it to a whole new level. However I would think if there is a new threat we would be told. You want me to ask around a bit?”
“Don’t do that babe, I don’t want you to take any risks.”Gabe smiles. “You called me Babe.”
Jerry kissed him. “Let’s get back to work”
As they stood and began dressing Gabe reached over and pulled Jerry into his chest. The heat from Jerry’s naked back arousing him once more. “I want you now Jerry.”
Jerry leaned his head back into the crook of Gabe’s neck and whispered into his ear. “I am all yours.”
Jerry left leaving Gabe behind to work out and headed straight back to the Major’s office. He knocked on the open door to get the Major’s attention. Major Rizzo looked up and waved him in.
“Actually sir I am headed out to check on the Tomb and was wondering if you would join me.”
The senior officer looked up and nodded. “Sure Jerry let me grab my coat. Should we grab Sergeant Major Francis?.”
“Yes sir might be a good idea.”
Major Rizzo stood and and yelled out into the office “SERGEANT MAJOR. Grab your coat we are taking a walk.”
From two offices over the response was yelled back. “Be right there sir.”
The three man command team of the Tomb Guards left the building and walked toward The Tomb. Major Rizzo and Lieutenant Caldwell filled the Sergeant Major in on the details of the the two Argentinians visiting.
Just before they reached the tomb Jerry stopped them. “Ok the contact I am working in the Argentinian Guards knows nothing about this and he says it seems odd information like that would be kept from him.”
Sergeant Major James Francis looked over at Jerry and smirked. “And if I know you sir you have this guy eating out of the palm of your hands.”
Jerry smiled. “I do whatever it takes. Nothing from the surveillance feeds suggest the Argentinians are concerned about a resistance. I think these guys are telling us they are the resistance.”
Major Rizzo looked around the snow covered cemetery and over to the tomb, he sighed deeply. “We know the Argentinians are expecting an attack that’s already been established. I am assuming this Admiral Norris on the AM radio channels is gearing up. Do you think he could have sent in a couple of intel operators?”
“If he is smart, and from all accounts including the intel file we have on him he is very smart, then he would have to. Satellites are down for the most part. We are still getting some data from around the world but it’s mostly a few days old by the time it gets to us. He would have to do some aerial recon maybe stealth drones, but Norris is an old school guy and even did a stint in Naval Intelligence himself, he would want boots on the ground.”
Sergeant Major Francis stomped his feet to shake off the cold. “So do we tip our hand or do we wait for them to tip theirs?”
Both Francis and Caldwell looked at the Major. Major Rizzo shrugged. “Don’t ask me, you two are the officers.” He tossed the pack of cigarettes to the Sergeant Major. “But it looks to me like they have already tipped their hand.”
Rizzo started walking toward the tomb again. “Ok so you need to find out who these guys are for real. Start digging and let me know what you come up with. Jerry figure out the Argentinian plans to thwart the attack if you can. Just be careful I don’t care how much in love with you Lieutenant Garcia is.” The Major turned and walked towards the tomb stepping onto the Plaza effectively ending the conversation. He saluted the tomb and watched the guard do his rounds for a few minutes before returning to his office.
